Schiff’s lead witnesses have no real evidence — and neither does he

On Wednesday, the curtain rises on the House’s impeachment show, featuring State Department career diplomats William Taylor Jr. and George Kent as the first witnesses. Mainstream media claim Taylor and Kent have “damning evidence” that President Trump delayed military aid to the Kiev government in a quid pro quo to pressure the Ukrainian president to dig up dirt on the Bidens.

Don’t believe it. Kent and Taylor have no evidence against Trump — only a false rumor spread during a farcical game of telephone on Sept. 7. Taylor heard the claim third-hand, and then called Kent, who got it fourth-hand.

Making these diplomats lead witnesses in the impeachment show is a ruse. They never spoke with Trump about the aid and admit they had no direct knowledge of why it was delayed. They weren’t even on the controversial July 25 phone call that has become the pretext for impeachment.

On that call, Trump asked Ukraine’s president to investigate meddling in the 2016 US election and Joe Biden’s son’s Ukrainian dealings. Trump didn’t say military aid was contingent on it. But Democrats insist a quid pro quo was implicit. And an impeachable offense.

Now it’s showtime, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has to parade witnesses in front of the cameras to give the appearance that the Democrats have the goods on the president.

What Taylor and Kent heard would never be considered in a court of law. The fact that Schiff’s leading with them indicates he has no real evidence.

Imagine a prosecutor in a murder trial leading with two witnesses who didn’t know anything about the crime but heard a rumor that the accused was guilty.

Eh, in a court of law Trump would’ve been deposed by now. We could trade Taylor and Kent for Trump. How about that deal, smart guy?

If "the call was so perfect", then why won't the WH allow anyone to answer questions in front of Congressional committees?

"Only guilty people plead the 5th". And preventing testimony is effectively the same thing. If the WH staffers could testify under oath and EXONERATE the President, you can bet he'd have them all lined up tomorrow for Q&A at 6 AM EST.

I was at an economic update last week for work with the CIO of a large regional bank. He said there have only been two incumbents that have lost (1980 - Carter, 1992 - Bush) during recent elections. In both cases, unemployment was rising and the economy/stock market was declining. He said unless both of those two things happen, that's something like 83% probability of reelection.
The socialism that the Democrats are proposing and how they expect to fund it would curtail investment so hard that we would see a major recession within a few years. Most people who are older than 40 recognize this.

What socialism? SOME Dems Are but certainly not all. And “proposing” and enacting are a long, long ways from each other. That being said, healthcare accessibility and delivery is a huge issue in this s nation...as is new immigration policies...policies that reflect the reality of today without removing millions of Non-residents who have never lived in a country other than the USA.

...it's almost like Trump's focus on Ukrainian corruption is that he wants a piece of it....

Agreed

Is it me or does Schiff look like ET?

this is a bigger joke than the Mueller charade. However, without this liberal nonsense, Trump wouldn’t be as strong as he is. I say, just let them keep going and I’ll be celebrating election night 2020!
