I work at a large site in the DSM area that has employees here at all times of day. Happened around 7:30 last night it sounds. Cops were called as there was an employee in the building who had a legal, licensed firearm with them.

Why would anyone take a gun into work? I am expressly forbidden to do so. I know it's violated a lot, but we cannot have firearms in our cars. Once we hit the property line guns are forbidden.
In today's environment what kind of a dipshit takes a gun into work?

You mean, besides Cops, Rangers, Hunters, Fisherman, military personnel....and such?

I work for that same company and saw the announcement. Absolutely idiotic to bring a gun into work. Also, absolutely against policy so guessing Mr. Brainiac will spend the holidays in the unemployment line. Some people are flat out stupid.

Which large DSM employer? Was it the same one who not too long ago had an employee bring a gun to work and blow their brains out in front of their leader?

Not suggesting people should carry a gun to work if the employer says no but I'm guessing the percentage of armed employees is rising. Between more people have permits (and guns), more workplace violence, and ever fear of terrorist (especially if your employer has a number of Muslim employees) there has to be more people sticking a gun in their backpack, purse, ect.

Whut? Cops carry guns as part of their duties. As do park rangers. Hunters and people fishing aren't really a problem in my office building. Precious little to catch or shoot. I don't know why you threw that out there. Military personnel from what I understand don't actually carry weapons all that often. Usually they are in an armory unless their specific duty (Like MP's), carry weapons regularly unless they are training or deployed.
