Serious question:is there a better place to train in America for a 125/133?

Partners: Delgado 2X National Champion, Gilman 2017 World Team Member, Daniel Dennis 2016 Olympian, Cory Clark, current NCAA National Champion, Matt McDonough, 2X National Champion, Spencer Lee, Jr. World Champion and then two guys named Tom and Terry Brands to chip in... are you kidding me! If you're a 125, 133 or even 141 and looking to transfer or commit, is there a better place anywhere for partners? I guess you have to throw in Mark Perry who coached Delgado as well...

If you just look at partners, I wouldn't be surprised if a stud 133 didn't want to try to transfer into that room...

Serious answer: It's not as clear cut as you might think. Looking at the last 20 years AA's:
IA----------27 AA
MN--------26
OK St-----24
PSU-------15
Corn-------14
IL-----------14
NE---------10

last 10 years:
IA--------------------17
MN------------------14
PSU, IL, Corn----9
Okie St-------------8

It's only when you look at the AA placements do you see IA and Okie St dominance:
IA 125) --------------------3245121682233
IA 133) --------------------12212327266113

Ok St 125)----------------4785166631
Ok St 133)----------------55214126831211

It may be a serious question, but it's also a rhetorical one. Fortunately, everyone in the wrestling community knows the answer. . . including a certain 133-pounder who decided not to take advantage of the best lightweight room on the planet. He still has time to right a wrong, however.

Warnerov and Stoll will bolster the upper weights and we have some horses in the middle, too. Heading squarely in the right direction.

Make no mistake -- the goal is to become the top room for every weight, from 125 through 285. I like where we're headed.

Lot of work for nothing there.

Do you even realize you just showed us that it's clear cut?

Serious question here: Is Terry the best in the group when they go live? Because I think so. Last practice I was at he was beating up on Gilman, Clark, and McD.

I'd say Tom but he doesn't wrestle too often.

No I don't. You have TNT in the room and can only produce one more AA at 125 & 133! Meanwhile Minny has dominated Iowa at 197 & hvy. Maybe it is just random as to what weights do well and has nothing to do with coaching.

Gilman and Clark had one NC between them. To be honest I think the angry twins are overrated.

Bitter/jealous troll. Who has been the 57kg freestyle representative for the U.S. the last 4 years?

You showed us that Iowa has had the best results. And that is without factoring in two time NCAA champ in Delgado and multiple world champion in Lee in the room.

As to your second sentence, TNT weren't running the program 20 years ago.

Just the same, I wouldn't argue that Minny isn't greater than Iowa 197/HWT. That isn't really the subject at hand.

Brock Lesnar 55-3, AA 2,1 ...... 23 pins, tied 1st for career winning % 7 (8.4%)
Garret Lowney AA 3,5 0 (0%)
Tony nelson 131-16, AA 7,1,1,2 .... 9th in career wins 6 (7.2%)

I don't think MN has ever had a heavyweight make the world freestyle team. Maybe a rodent can set me straight.

I think that you are right. Verne Gagne, Brad Rheingans, the Koslowski twins, and Garrett Lowney all competed in the Olympics in Greco. Tony Nelson is on the National freestyle team.

Gable Steveson will be your first. He's going to be a great one.

This is half of the equation. The other half is post collegiate success....Ramos --> Dennis --> Gilman are the last 4 World Team guys at 57 kg for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

jammies i was just trolling the troll, i do not question minnys success with the bigger guys( heck we got one for a coach), but i do find it feeble for you to compare yours against ours in the lighter weights and i'm sure you know it's true if your being honest about it.

Is this a serious question? It's not even debatable. If you want to be a Champ and or multiple AA at 125 or 133 you go to Iowa. Oh wait the last 3 reps for USA at 56k is a Iowa trained wrestler. Sorry that is just fact!! There is NOBODY better at developing those 2 weights...

It is most certainly the best place for lightweights to train in the USA.

A better question: Is IC the best place for lightweights to train in the world?
