Ohio State leads by 8. Iowa can score a max of 9 more placement points plus additional bonus.

Gilman vs. #1 Alan Waters will be up next on mat 2 wrestling for third, http://es.pn/1Mso581

There certainly are a lot of posters the last few days I have not seen all year...or last year...or the year before....and nothing but negative posts.....I didn't wrestle so I don't post at all on why we can't score in the first period, cuz I wouldn't pretend to know why.....just trying to stay positive for the future. GO HAWKS!

Good tourney for gilman, but dang after the quarters I thought he was gonna win the thing.

Also- they need to do something about stall riding. Waters was no where near, not even attempting to turn gilman, and just hung out on the legs for the last 1:30. Match was super exciting when they were on their feet. Then that happened.

So its all but over for Iowa's chances?

How the hell was that 2 back pts for Waters when the ref only counted 1 and Gilman was on his back for 1 second, tops???

Agreed on the good tourney for Thomas, came up a little short. Took a nice shot against Waters, got it deep and couldn't finish it, that was all she wrote. He's going to win a lot of matches for us the next couple of years, and hopefully he can get to the top before it's all said and done. Got a lot of skill to work with.

We gotta take up a quick collection to pay off Port to get into a fight with Stieber and get him DQ'd.

Not a wrestler either, at least beyond MS years. Grew too big for it, but I still enjoy watching it. Some knuckleheads here but that's always been the case. I've been on HR for 10 years now, don't always post but I enjoy reading the comments of most others. There are a lot of good, knowledgeable posters, and some trolls as well. Hopefully Clark will finish well as well as Sorenson, Evans, Telford and Burak.

Actually feel kind of bad for Chris Dardanes. Had a great year and got derailed a bit at the end. Tough match with Schopp and loses at the buzzer basically. Seems like a great kid (both of them for that matter).

The Dardanes boys would like to thank the Alton boys for preventing them from being the most disappointing pair of twin wrestlers in recent memory.

Around 2004 for me, IAPHONE...you do figure out who knows what they are talking about after a while...I graduated in 89 so I remember the sting of of not gettng the X in 87....had a conversation with Tom in 2007 about an upcoming match (which turned out to be a kinda famous match)..the positive energy he had went right through my skin....LUV HAWKEYE WRESTLING.

We've been dead in the water for a while.

That's just plain mean.

Great freshman season Brandon but you gotta shoot if you're going to win that match.

And once again the guy who takes/risks shots wins again. 3 times tshirt used the same attack and Brandon didn't learn, nor did he shoot. Whatever.

Ouch! They just seem like good guys, having a little empathy for the opponent is all. Human element and all that fun stuff.

Brandon Sorensen just went down late to Tsirtsis, wrestled a really tough match. My knock on Tsirtsis has always been he's got the goods to deliver far more than he does, and he proved it against Brandon with some real nice offensive stuff. Tsirtsis has a lot of skill and a lot of talent when he chooses to display it.

Assuming they both stay at 149, they've got a lot more matchups to come. Brandon is definitely right there. One hell of a year for the young lad.

Arturo: This actually happens every year for one weekend in March. A bunch of bandwagon fans show up hoping to get in on the celebration of a national championship. When things go wrong, they bitch about coaching changes. On Sunday, every last one of them will disappear, back to the football and basketball boards where they spend the other 51 weekends bitching about coaching changes.

He'd be wise to go wherever Alex Dieringer isn't............................

The Hawkeye basketball team will lose in the NCAA tournament tomorrow. So they have another coach to crucify.

Not that I'm a doomsdayer (and I post here all the time), but if you dont' think there is something wrong with the program after this weekend I dont' know what to tell you. To pretend otherwise is just fooling yourself.

Sorry to interupt the Village Idiot Convention, but Mike Evans just lost his 5th place match in overtime. Please continue on . . .

4 years in the NCAAs and Mike Evans never won a single match on the backside. I can't imagine how hard it would be to wrestle at Iowa for 5 years. But as far as the fans go he's possibly the most overhyped wrestler in history by this board.

How fitting Evans loses his last match the way he wins too many matches, very few to no TD attempts and lose on rideout in OT. Why not let it go open up your offense its your last match as a Hawkeye Evans.

Artuero Fuente,

I like your cigars, but your critical thinking needs work.
Senior class was ranked #1 recruiting class. Not a single National Champion nor a Big Ten Champion out of all of them.
I'd say they were over hyped, and I won't miss them. I'm more focused and excited about our future hawks. You probably know some of the seniors personally, so I get where you're coming from. However, I still will be looking both ways when I cross traffic. :)

I agree with you Spooner. I think that Meyer (presuming he will be at 174 next year) will actually give the Hawkeyes more potential with his offense and grit. I like Mike Evans and think he was a great Hawkeye but IMO he never brought his true (I think he has the offensive TD potential) ability against top competition. He was not willing to bring his aggressive manner into TD attempts.

Point taken SPOONER, but i believe his soph year he lost in the quarters and won two to reach consi semis

I care but I don't have the strength for any smart remarks, is what it is... These seniors will be gone and new blood will enter, lets hope they can get the job done.
