I'm glad he's doing well. He's a keep-it-close kind of guy, never beaten anyone in the top 20. If he were still wrestling for Iowa he might have scratched his way to an NCAA appearance. Then what? I'd rather have his scholarship money to help land a difference maker.

I hold more stock in Turks head to head win over Gross than his 8-7 Head to head loss with Carton, who he most likely wrestled a ton in the practice room. Sorensen lost to Grothus last year as well, but we all see how much better he is at 149.And Gross hammered Carton who beat Turk so who cares.
Gross has turned it on the second half of the year. He beat a very good Bryce Meredith(I think ranked around 12)in the semis to get to the finals.
There's nothing the Iowa coaches could have done here. They had to give him his walking papers.
Actually I'm happy for him. But Iowa does not need problems/works in progress that might get 8th at ncaas - and are likely to only be R12 guys and spend time developing that. Just happy for the rabbitsAnd he's going to NCAA's

Who cares? I guess I do. I didn't think then and I don't think now that Gross is the second coming of Logan Stieber. I'm glad he's making improvement, I don't wish ill of him,and I hope he's got his life on a good path. But I do think Turk has a higher ceiling. Just one person's view.
