This was my first thought too! Would not surprise me, although probably more likely we hire externally. Hopefully we hear soon!
Exactly and after some moves this past year, I think it should be known that Kirk isn't in 100% command as he probably thought.
People trying to jump into eventual successor are over reading this just a tad. If a guy deserves a raise, sometimes you simply need a job title change to support it. How many examples can people name that someone went from assistant head coach to that very team’s head coach?I think it’s happened in the NFL but not any college programs that I remember.

No this is about keeping good staff from leaving, especially if they tried for the OC and were given this as a consolation.

I do every year. The government pays me big bucks at age 70!!!
The money is kind of ridiculous in CFB coaching. Outside of the travel for recruiting, they are pretty cake jobs.
