Sheryl Swoopes (and other Crazy Women) with some incredible takes

Umm…why? So we all should have voted for Kamala because she liked that tweet? Get a grip…
Uhhh, because this is about her, not Kamala Harris. If she tells you the truth about her own life, it might be courteous to you know, listen.

wait…I thought this was about Swoopes. Are you honestly saying Swoopes isn’t bitter and doesn’t dislike Caitlin?

Of course she’s bitter and dislikes Caitlin. I don’t believe that it is because she is white, though.

You and I have done this dance a million times. You don’t seem interested in actual conversations. Ad hominem attacks and straw men all day.

I may have missed it then. Why does she hate CC?

Do you have a job? Can you imagine if a 22 year old kid showed up one day, did your job 10 times better than you ever could have done it, got paid 20 times more and was brash, cocky and beloved by all?

How would that go for you?
Well if they were demonstrably better, had nothing gifted to them and were changing the game that I loved I would probably tip my cap to them and give them props, especially if I was retired. If I was competing against them I would try and find a way to get better.
I certainly wouldn't make up lies, double down on those lies and give them no credit while attempting to discredit them. You know similar to Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Cheryl Miller and many more former greats. It's a thing called class and respect.

So no issue with CC being white? If that is your premise we will agree to disagree, I think it is one of the bigger issues that Swoopes has.

Pretty badly if you were a racist asshole

IMO, Swoopes is not happy with and is extremely jealous of:

* The overwhelming credit CC has received for WNBA ticket sales and TV viewership

* All of the endorsement deals CC has gotten that totaled over $11M in 2024

* Black players not getting credit for the above or earning nearly as much

* Black players, especially A'ja Wilson, not getting nearly the attention

One person did not vote CC rookie of the year. I wonder who that petty, jealous person was? ;)

Fair enough. I think my general point currently is that this argument has been made by those who believe it to be true many, many times.

And that the person these folks think is the victim and who they believe they are defending disagrees with them and has asked them to knock it off. So it might be polite to just knock it off.

I also think that if you had CC in a truly honest moment….. as the competitor that she is her answers would be very different than the media responses. She has had to fight and earn her way….. but she stays above the fray very well because that is what is needed to grow her brand and the sport.

There is no way you can know that. She said what she said. It is up to her fans - if they are loyal - to heed her request.

I would stay it’s more important to stick to your personal convictions rather than blindly follow advice. Glad I didn’t vote for Kamala like she hinted we should.

I agree with this 100%. But keep it to yourself. She doesn't agree with you and she doesn't want you to put it out there. If you like her, respect her. Pretty simple.

I don’t agree, but even if I did, you have to admit you’ve said things that would greatly disappoint CC as well, and yet you’re response was, “I didn’t say anything untrue.” 🤦‍♂️ maybe just the rest of us are supposed to keep it to ourselves…it’s okay for you though.

‘There is no way you can know that’

Very similar to you not being able to know if she is being 100% truthful in what she says. Yet your direction is to blindly follow it without question. People have media teams to help with the press and how to craft the message. My opinion is that if you got CC to be brutally honest her answers would not be totally in line with what gets put out in the media. You disagree, all good.

She doesn’t seem to have a problem with Angel doing it though….or Aja Wilson. I guess it’s selective hatred for only certain people that have more success at their job than you did.

Angel Reese and Aja Wilson haven't had a tenth the impact that Caitlin Clark has. Let's be real.

This exact dynamic happened when Serena took over women's tennis. Everybody hated her and half the people yelled racism. It was BS then, and it's BS now. People hate confident young kids who are better than them.

Time immemorial.

I see now the co-owner of the Mystics and co-founder of BET is not happy that Clark won Time magazines athlete of the year. She said it should have been the whole WNBA that should have won it:rolleyes:

I heard the interview - the lady (Shelia Johnson) was trying her best to diminish Clark. In the process, she totally misunderstood that the award was for both her NCAA and WNBA accomplishments - more so what she did at Iowa. The first paragraph of the Time AOTY piece makes that very clear:

In February, she set the new NCAA Division 1 women’s basketball scoring record. A few weeks later, she broke Hall of Famer Pete Maravich’s mark, making her the top scorer overall. Her college championship game between Iowa and South Carolina averaged 18.9 million viewers, becoming the second most watched women’s sporting event, outside the Olympic Games, in the history of U.S. television, with American viewership outdrawing that of each game of the 2024 NBA Finals and World Series. And for the first time ever, more people tuned in for the women’s NCAA championship than the men’s. As a pro . . .

Caitlin would not have won the award based only on a great rookie season in the WNBA. No way. But Ms. Johnson was too busy being butthurt to understand why she was pick AOTY.

31 percent of the Mystics home attendance was the 2 games against Caitlin and the Fever. The owner ignores that and says the popularity is because of lots of people. ;)
Exactly. And I would bet my entire portfolio that if CC quit the W tomorrow, their TV ratings and attendance would drop back to the shite show it was prior to 2024 almost immediately.
They would have to go back to flying economy by the 2026 season.

Another woman of color who can’t stand what Clark has done for the WNBA. Can’t they just take the pay bump and be happy?

I don't know anybody that hated Serena Williams. She was amazing.
You are always LOOKING for hate
Even when it doesn't exist.
Just quit, wonderbutt
"Stop looking for hate"

Four seconds later...

"Everyone who doesn't like Caitlin Clark is racist!"

But both had more impact and make more money than Swoopes ever did…..so she must not dislike Clark because she makes more money and has more impact than she ever did, so what does that leave?
