Shooting at Highland Park, IL 4th of July Parade?

I was about two blocks away yesterday. Didn't even realize what I was hearing. In the moment, I thought it was part of the parade. Pretty scary stuff.

This time I realize they had to release his name because they were looking for him and wanted help.
I wish in most cases they would never release the name and picture of these guys because they are getting what they wanted in notoriety.
Most these guys are nobodies who go by without ever being noticed and this is how they can get misguided attention.

We have a huge problem with young males in this country. I don't have an answer for it. Ready access to weapons is the only thing I can think of in the short term.
It’s the guns. There are mentally unwell people in all other developed countries too. But this event does not happen in those countries except for the rarest of occasions due to limited access to fire arms.

Yesterday I took my 17 year old nephew shooting. We fired several firearms that have impacted American history (1911, m1 carb, Ar's, ect) we talked about gun safety and respecting firearms and the damage they are capable of. We talked about his friends, girl friend, schools he is looking at, things HE is doing and bring him joy.
Now listen to this guy.
(I'm assuming you have educated yourself on his YouTube raps where he demonstrated himself in a school, blood soaked and surrounded by firearms. That was this kids claim to fame.)
2 adult males, living with this kid every single day "yeah I live with him but I never saw a problem".
Hasn't had a job in a couple of years, recluse, idolized the JFK shooter, one spot of notoriety was a song on YouTube about shooting a school, facial tats everywhere. "Didn't see any warning signs".
And ask yourself some serious ****ing questions.

Most of those countries have better mental health care as well. It's a multifaceted issue in my opinion. Guns...or rather the ability to obtain military grade weaponry are a major part and maybe the major part of the problem.
Just think there is enough bandwidth to address all facets.
On the mental health front it'd probably help our homeless problem as well....
On the weapons front....if he had a bolt action rifle we're still talking some dead folks but.....instead of throwing out 50? or so rounds in a minute we're probably talking 15 or so....makes a difference.
