SIAP: How many yards could that feild goal have been?

That is not the correct angle....much too steep a decline.

That picture shows the football just before it passes through the uprights. The Gazette video shows the ball hits the net roughly where I put the X. The angle from the football to the X is exactly the flight the ball took. Watch the video. The angle will be pretty much flat around the 15 yard line where the football peaks. The angle will be much steeper just before it hits the ground. It is not a perfect bell curve but increase gradually, peaks, then falls at a much greater rate than it rose.

Boyd is 6'2" so roughly 2 yards tall. The kick would have roughly been good from a tad over 60.

Best proof yet. I'm pretty sure it would have been good from 59, and 60 it would have hit the cross bar, bounced up, and over. At 61, everybody would be complaining about how much money KF is getting paid.

That's assuming that we go on to lose in OT, which would be far from a given. CJB was going to win that game any way he could.

It easily cleared the bar.

That picture of Boyd is just perfect. "Aw f****...." moment for him.

My bro was there. He said probably 63 or 64. A really smart math guy could probably compute that from the approximate height at which the ball cleared the cross bar. I'm not saying I could do that but a math person could.

Just came from my musty math lab in my basement and after 3 straight all-nighters came up with the formula:

The correct answer is: 57 + 5 + x - 2015;

where x = current year

A guy came into my office today and saw my Hawkeye lanyard. He is a Pitt grad. We talked college football and he said he thought that kick would have been good from 65. If it matters what some Pitt grad thought.
