Fixed it for ya
Hell no. But thanks for playing.
In one of the greatest upsets in Iowa history, the Hawkeyes were wearing an unrecognizable uniform. I think that's unfortunate rather than something to celebrate. Iowa's regular uniform is one of the top 10 in college football.
These unis were better than most team's alts, but leave it at that. One masquerade party a year is plenty.
Well kind of. I believe we changed the helmets and uniforms several times between the 50's and 70's anyway. Other then the short diversion with the banana peels, Iowa has had the same uniform basically, and the same helmet for almost 40 years, since coach Fry brought out the Tiger hawk.So can I assume you would have been entirely against changing the uni's back in the 70s when Hayden got here? I mean, tradition and all. Right?
Most people outside of Iowa fans assume my Iowa jersies are Steelers jersies.Hell no. But thanks for playing.

more for a night game hopefully the once a year is a good idea just not a complete everyday affair.Would LOVE to see them as a regular worn once or twice a year.
I like mixing it up.
I would like to see a throwback to these helmets at some point.
Iowa has a lot of “tradition” prior to 1978, but that gets overlooked for some reason.

Iowa wore these while Stanzi was playing, and they looked great. I'd actually be in favor of wearing the Apex uniforms of the 90s for a throwback game. As a kid at the time I was excited that Iowa would wear something different, even if it only lasted a year or two. I always thought our road Apex uniforms looked better than the home. Those pants remained the teams' practice paints well into the Reebok era. To me the Reebok uniforms were just generic. I was glad when we switched to Nike and went back to the traditional Fry era uniforms. They are classic, and mostly what people remember for Iowa's best years. I would like to see alternate uniforms for a game or two a year. Just wish one time they'd incorporate the actual Iowa gold color from the Kinnick era. Maybe even do bright gold (like what Notre Dame uses) with black Tigerhawks on the side for helmets. I think it'd look good.
So, the kids now run the asylum? Are you one of those kids? How many of those kids have marketing degrees and how many people with marketing degrees would even suggest that a top ten nationally recognized uniform be changed?I'd sign this, and then I'd forge your mother's signature just to sneak in another vote.
The uniforms were spectacular. Sorry grampa...with a few tweaks regarding some of the above comments, this needs to happen for the kids.
The uniforms had already gone through several transformations just like all losing teams go through. We had endured 19 straight non winning seasons and we were all banking on the guy from Texas to change that. We had confidence in Hayden and when he changed the uniforms it wasn't to cater to idiot kids who play video games in their mother's basements. He, also, introduced this new logo which was an instant success and the uniforms were still very traditional and the colors were virtually the same if not the same. It was a whole different decision back then. It was our coach making a deliberate decision while keeping a traditional look, not a decision pushed by some manufacturer who would love nothing more than to change uniform designs every year.So can I assume you would have been entirely against changing the uni's back in the 70s when Hayden got here? I mean, tradition and all. Right?

I'd really like to see us use our regular helmet design with the colors reversed. I think it would look boss!
I love these uniforms. Love them! Keep them!
Terrible idea...1 game per yr is enough. Keep the thing that separates u from most...tradition.
Stanzi played a game in these:
In 2004 Iowa wore these against Ball State:
Was at that game and liked them a lot.
I would also like to see a black helmet with an old gold tiger hawk someday.

We all know the story and that story is part of the tradition at Iowa. Iowa's uniform and helmet combo is amongst the most recognizable in sports. Still we have hip hop idiots who don't know who Randy Duncan was, who wasn't even born when Hayden was hired who grew up playing nothing but video games and who want the Hawkeyes to look like a video game. Tradition has an immense value. Why do you think that changing the uniforms to look like video game warriors will add future value. When is the last time Michigan changed it's helmut design? You do know that they copied Dartmouth(?) on the design, right. That doesn't seem to bother anyone and outside of Iowa, I never hear or read any remarks about the Steelers unless someone is talking about Fry.

Good post. I think the Michigan helmet design was lifted from Princeton though. The design was brought over by a coach (Crisler maybe) who came to Michigan from the Ivy League school.
You can't be serious. While an improvement over past attempts, the Grey Jersey Collar was Lame, the pant color accent could have been done in much better fashion as well as a couple of other things such as incorporating some gold into the shoulder stripes. However, a decent template to work off for future versions.I love these uniforms. Love them! Keep them!
You do know that this is a football forum and we are not Oregon nor are we auditioning for Project Runway, right? What the hell is new school chic and who the hell talks that way?I'd love to see some more new school chic permanent uniforms. Or at least do 4-5 alternates per year.
