This here though...I gotta disagree with. It may mean something to some but in this day and age of a 12 team playoffs, a third loss is now the death knell. They really should get rid of bowl games. I just don't understand why anyone would participate in them anymore or spend money as they are meaningless. Essentially a glorified scrimmage for the players, that's really about it. Pride is all they're (the players) are playing for and I expect they will be, but we, as fans, realize they should be playing for much more at this point of the season.
A loser mentality is losing. You play to win championships. If you aren't playing for championships, you're not trying hard enough in a variety of capacities both big and small in scope of importance. Especially, if you're a school with the support and capabilities that Iowa has. Not trying hard enough in any of those capacities is a "loser" mentality. It's not as simplistic as you try to make it out to be.
I'd state that we have been programmed into a loser mentality over the years, by a certain person with certain questionable strategies, and with the constant reminders about how we can't achieve something as opposed to how we can. Until recently, you were one of those people in all honesty. To me, people that continue to attack others that want, or expect more, are exactly the people that personify a loser mentality. It's been broken for some time, this isn't a new development.
