He might have a similar match count to what he had in the weird ass COVID year. Guess we'll find out in due time. If he's healthy (for his standard anyway! Ha!), let er buck! I would guess he'll have the least amount of matches of Iowa's starters anyway, barring someone else being dinged up for a stretch or whatever.Yes, but I would expect a limited Spencer all season. Cashman will be getting a good amount of work this year.
Ybarra might be a 133 now. Cashman will be the guy at 125 when neededSeems like Spencer's backup will have some opportunities. How is Cashman vs Ybarra at this point
why can’t it be like last year. So much better if the let red shirts and other kids wrestler before match. Entertaining and good for the sport!Wish it was like last year when it didnt count so Ayala could get in there against some of these big ten wrestlers. Like have Spencer wrestle Minny and Ayala wrestle Schroeder on Sunday. Would love to see how he stacks up against some good 125s.
I would guess they’d like to redshirt Ybarra.Seems like Spencer's backup will have some opportunities. How is Cashman vs Ybarra at this point?
Don’t let this go to your head because I really don’t like you, but I actually agree with you in a way. There should be 2nd string matches, teams have guys that are not on RS they should match them up and let them wrestling before the starting lineup. They obviously will not be on reg tv time so stream them. Why can’t

Forgot he has a free year. However with Ayala, Schriever, Henson, Ybarra, gonna be lots of competition at the lower weights. Gonna be an odd man out, depending how they stack up?I would guess they’d like to redshirt Ybarra.
It’s my understanding this will continue for the 21-22 season. Coaches really liked it and have requested it’s continuation.Don’t let this go to your head because I really don’t like you, but I actually agree with you in a way. He didn’t have surgery. His recovery from surgery must be slower than hoped.
Why do you say that? His recovery from surgery must be slower than hoped.

Not a real Doctor, or even a fake message board wannabe Doctor, but I am staying at a Holiday Inn this weekend. So I MAY draw some medical knowledge/inspiration and report back about torn ACL's at a future date............If he wrestles early in the season then there’s really no need for him to not have a normal schedule. His acls are already torn. Not like he has to worry about coming back to fast after surgery or something.
Another swing and a miss from you. Shocking. His recovery from surgery must be slower than hoped.
Because there's no way in hell he didn't get some work done. No one would allow that. Why do you say that?
Right? I thought that was the reason he didn’t make an Olympic run this year.Because there's no way in hell he didn't get some work done. No one would allow that.

I'm assuming The Kid and his "Team" know what they are doing. That's good enough for me. Go Hawks! He didn’t with his rt leg in 2019. Rehabbed it and was ready to swing for the fences in 2019/2020. Started the season on time and won U.S. Nationals in Dec 2019. IIRC, it was going to be the same plan with the left one.
You are wrong. Listen to the interview. Again, shocking that you would be wrong and then double down on it.Because there's no way in hell he didn't get some work done. No one would allow that.
SL has stated he had no ACLs, which I think would be referring to have had completely ruptured ACLs which are not really treatable. I can’t help to think that after further research on his injuries maybe it’s possible they found partial tears . . .
I really wish other sports went to a model for redshirting like football. In football you are allowed to redshirt if you play in 4 games or less. I think it wrestling this would look like 4 duals / in season tournaments. But the wrestler obviously wouldn't be able to redshirt if he wrestled in a qualifying tournament (b10s, b12s, acc).
Do you that for certain? If so his plans must be to repair both of them directly after this season to get ready for 2024.No, they were fully ruptured.
He said he really wanted to wrestle in Olympics and originally put off surgery so he could attempt to make Olympics but everything in his knee was strained after NCAAs or something like that so it just wasn't possible by the time trials came alongRight? I thought that was the reason he didn’t make an Olympic run this year.
Some people don't need repair to do what they want to do.Do you that for certain? If so his plans must be to repair both of them directly after this season to get ready for 2024.
It’s pretty clear he doesn’t need them. Why would he repair them after the season?Do you that for certain? If so his plans must be to repair both of them directly after this season to get ready for 2024.
I guess, if he is able to compete at the level needed to win gold with no braces, time will tell. It’s pretty clear he doesn’t need them. Why would he repair them after the season?
I haven’t had time to listen yet but it looks like this interview might give some info on the current state of his recovery.
That is what Spencer said as well. To be honest, the way he looked in 2020 with his right ACL already gone nobody would have guessed that he was wrestling with only one ACL that year so why would anyone think he wouldn't do the same thing this year. He has had 6 months of PT I'm sure to strengthen the knee around the ACL on the left one now and he as already shown that was plenty good enough for the right one. Just because it seems crazy doesn't mean it is for Spencer. I'm guessing he has gotten lots of advice from people a lot smarter than all of us and this is the best route for him. I have a sneaking suspicion we are going to be very happy with the end result of his decision this year!He didn’t with his rt leg in 2019. Rehabbed it and was ready to swing for the fences in 2019/2020. Started the season on time and won U.S. Nationals in Dec 2019. IIRC, it was going to be the same plan with the left one.
