So ... does anyone have any GOOD news to share? (Not Political)

If you survive, do you have to refund Make-A-Wish?

I've always wondered!
No refunds are due. My husband's cousin took a Make a Wish trip probably 15 years ago and she is still in remission. No one has asked for anything back.

I have been making videos reading books to my grandsons this week and sending them to my daughter in law. Mmy son and daughter in law have texted me videos of them watching it. They are just turned 1 and just turned 2. Their little faces light up when they see me and they sit still for the book 3 or 4 times straight. If I am reading to them in person they are turning the pages, walking off, grabbing another book. But the video they sit still for. The best part though is just seeing their little faces light up and they just smile the entire time. The older one will try to swipe the phone to turn the page. Gahhh, they are the best

Had a second interview on a potential new gig last night. Keep your fingers crossed, gents. This job would be a home run. Starts at the Controller level and the current CFO wants to retire in a year. A great retirement community, over 100 years in business.

My niece and her family went on a Disney cruise from make a wish when she was 6. She's 19 now. They never had to pay. She wasn't supposed to survive birth and she had a near 0% chance to make it to her first birthday. She was never going to be able to walk or talk. It's a miracle that she is still with us. She is trying to become a teacher. She definitely fits well in a good news thread.

Highlights from the week:

- Nice dinner with some friends: Cocktails, pretzel with Welsh rarebit, Scotch egg, bone marrow, top notch burger, bangers and mash
- Managed to go the whole week and only do a few hours of work
- Have rode ~15ish miles on the indoor trainer each day
- Driving on "Expert" level on Forza Horizon 5
- Have listened to maybe a dozen concerts

Pretty slow week!

I did not know that! Thanks for sharing. That's pretty cool.
Its a great program, have been (step)parent of a recipient. We assumed the same thing- only for terminal- but were told towards end of treatment by the social worker person assigned to us we should apply. I have no idea what criteria they have for non-terminal, but she said almost all are approved who apply that have serious conditions.

FWIW, Universal's 'perks' were much better than Disney's

Some good news is it's the last day of January. I can booze a bit again if I want. But I think I'm still gonna hold off for awhile. I'm thoroughly enjoying how I feel after a month of no drankin'.

Is it weird that I’m 33 days in (started early) and don’t really feel much different at all? 🤔

Other than being a bit less tired and having a little more morning energy, I feel almost exactly the same.

Yeah bro, you're ****ing weird.

I kid I kid. I'm guessing it's probably different for everyone.

I'm hoping maybe it was a sign I wasn't drinking as much/frequently as I feared prior?

Honestly, I was expecting to drop weight, feel a ton of energy return and generally feel like a new person.

Instead, I feel the same with slightly less fatigue in the morning 🤷‍♂️

I also thought I'd lose more weight than I did. I'm down about 5lbs for the whole month. But my energy levels are much higher than they were prior. Or maybe that's just the meth that I substituted in for the booze. Who knows!

I did get a notification on my watch a couple days ago that my resting heart rate was down. Throughout the month of December it averaged 71bpm and the last 2 weeks it's averaged 62bpm. Guessing that may be related to the no booze.

I’m kicking around the no booze thing. It’s too easy to drink being single and an empty nester. Booze, weed, shrooms, rinse/repeat. I ain’t starting today tho mvther****ers! Or tomorrow either. Somebody’s gotta pick up the slack for @Derekd3408 standing me up!

I should note I had a skiing fall on Jan. 11 and got a Grade 2 MCL sprain with micro-tearing, so I was unable to exercise for 2-3 weeks (just did my first full workout last night!)

I'm sure that played a role in my lack of weight loss - good thing I wasn't ALSO drinking!
