So help me, Christie Sides ...

Is Cheryl Miller's ego compatible with Caitlin's talent?

I see a red flag.

We’ll see who they hire, but hopefully they knock it out of the park. Could be a situation similar to the Cubs at the end of 2014. Fired Renteria after he had the team playing >.500 ball the last two months, with a lot of young promising talent, because they knew he wasn’t a championship caliber coach and one was available. Brought in Maddon and within two years has a title.

Hmmm.. Care to rethink that statement?
Yep, I was wrong and I’m still surprised. Not many organizations would get rid of a coach that took a team to the playoffs for the first time in many years and was in the top three for coach of the year.

I see this like Phil Jackson getting in on Shaq/kobe. The right coach could slide right in and do great things.

Normally I'd agree, But with them bringing back their old CEO, you can tell that they know the time is NOW to capitalize on CC22's unique skills and gravity. I'd also imagine they already know who they want on the bench, and are working out contract specifics....

Unique skills and gravity. How disrespectful.

Just heard that MSN has an article out there and actually names Weatherspoon as a consideration lol. Can't make this stuff up.

Edit: Found the link.

I think you know full well why her name would be "mentioned", or she get an interview. The number of people who think she got screwed over like it was a racial thing and not because of her tanking the team to build up Reese's brand shows clearly where some peoples heads are at...

Hot takes from linked article -

Lisa Bluder - "It would be a big promotion ( ) for a coach that is 63 and has never coached in the WNBA . . ."

Teresa Weatherspoon - " . . . but the team (the Sky) quite frankly overachieved regardless given a lack of overall talent. Weatherspoon likes to push the pace and the Sky don't have that kind of talent at guard and never got to rightfully execute their coach's system."

She’s a slow down, half court style of coach just like Sides was….not sure why anyone thinks she would be better. Funny thing about the WNBA, all the coaches who had better players seem to be the ones who won more games. The coaching across the board is weak which is why half the coaches in the league got fired. So by all means, they should go hire someone who’s one of the current coaches….yeah, that makes sense.

One could say she was playing to her teams strengths, like good coaches do.

Solid positive energy though

So you think the Fever would fire Sides and then not have a plan with a new coach who’s going to come in and not let them run or play to CC’s strengths? Look, I get it’s the W and it’s a F’d up league but cmon.

I think in this case, like everything else with the W, they think they’re better than they really are….if the Fever gets a shot at hiring a “winning” coach, they will think they’re doing well because they can get someone that wins in their amazing league, so she must be phenomenal regardless of her style.

Do you hate watch the WNBA or something. You don't seem to like it very much.
