I'm sure the Gophers received rings for their historic Quick Lane Bowl appearance.
I'm sure they got some rings coming in for their great bowl victory and sub .500 season. Only they had to settle for pinky rings, tony soprano style.
You see when you win the majority of your games at the end of the year some teams get what's called "ranked" the lower the # the better. So being ranked in the top 10 means it was a really good season. I had to explain this to my ISU buddy the other day. I hope this helps, my New Years resolution this year was to make more of an effort to help those less fortunate. Boy, it certainly does feel good to help others

Which Iowa has only been ranked to end the year once from 2011-2015. So don't act like its a regular occurrence.
