So the Hawkeye Women are destroying Penn State right now.

i think it really is a glass half full argument. I would never want to see Clark get hurt but at the same time, I believe it's truly invaluable experience for the other back up players to play with Clark. She did sit at the end of game. Maybe not as long as some fans would like but Bluder did pull her. Clark wants to be in the game. Bluder has to balance keeping Clark happy with the risk of injury and the value her being on the court adds to the team versus the risk of injury.

I'm sure Bluder had a discussion with her about minimizing risk as the minutes were winding down. I don't have a problem with her staying on the court. It's good for Caitlin, it's good for recruiting (if she does get the triple double) and it's good for the experience of the backups.

She's playing fewer minutes overall this year with Molly giving her a breather. She may be in later in the game, but she is sitting more frequently and for a longer duration than she did the last two seasons.
I was shocked that she sat a couple of times in the first half, but the lead was already growing fast. The young gals looked like they really enjoyed their early entry as well...

While watching the game my frustration was that they waited so long to start bringing in the bench. I thought they could have snuck some more bench players in and gone with two experienced players and 2-3 from lower down the bench. I know they are trying to take advantage of Hannah and find her minutes, but for next year they need one of the 3 centers backing up Monica to emerge. That is not gonna happen if they only get 1-2 minutes here and there. I think you can use Stuelke at the 5 here an there, but if you want to have a great team, she needs to be at the 4. There was no reason for Monica or even Warnock to be in at for the last quarter unless Penn state made a comeback. Clark should probably have been on the bench more during that stretch as well, but it would have made more sense if you were trying to develop chemistry.

You’re preaching to the choir man. We have all been wondering for awhile now why Edigar, O’Grady, Goodman just aren’t seeing the floor. Lots of theories out there (goodmans injury + 4 yrs of eligibility left, Edigar’s athleticism/height, O’Grady’s development/desired position) but all we can agree on is Bluder seems to have faith in no one but Stuelke at the 4 or 5.

I can’t help but wonder if Bluder is hoping to get McKenna back next year and have Stuelke at the 5 alongside her. I’d rather bump Warnock to the 3, put Stuelke at the 4 and try O’Grady at the 5 but that’s basically fantasy at this pt. I’d REALLY like to see two posts on the floor at once tbh…but the chances of that seems to be zilch.

We've heard on broadcasts that Clark wants Martin back. Warnock is the 3rd best player on the team, so I bet Clark and Bluder want her back too. A starting lineup of: 1) Clark, 2) Davis, 3) Martin, 4) Warnock, and 5) Stuelke probably gives us the best chance to win next year unless they try to add an impact transfer if Martin/Warnock don't come back.

Gotta wonder if McCabe might beat Davis to the 2 in this scenario. I heard on the NW game she was shooting 45% from 3?? And we can’t forget Feuerbach, likely more athletic than Davis, McCabe, Martin, and Warnock. I can’t tell if the 2 or 3 is her best position tho.

Based on Shateah and Goodman, I'm less confident we will see Feuerbach at full strength next year. I know some players come back fast, but I remember hearing that athletes in basketball often dont fully trust the knee until about 18 months.

I am also hoping Syd emerges. She is a high effort. It was Kates third year when she established herself. Other than Clark probably the best rebounder of the guards.

McCabe is shooting 40.7% from three and Davis is shooting 40.0%. They've only shot 27 and 25 respectively, though, so their samples aren't large enough that you can conclude much of anything.

As creslin_hawk points out, we need to see Feuerbach back and healthy before she would enter into the starter discussion.

You may be totally spot on but I can’t help but wonder if they’d be playing much anyway. Bluder has played a short bench as long as I’ve been a fan. I can’t help but guess that Shateah/Sharon’s ceilings are lower than that of Feuerbach, Affolter, Stuelke, Edigar, McCabe, O’Grady, Gyamfi as well. Does anyone recall their other offers? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen them and I also don’t believe I ever saw them in a Top 100 ranking (but I very well may have missed one) — certainly not ESPN, which did have KF around #75 I believe.

Oh damn, I swear I heard an announcer say McCabe was shooting 45%. Maybe just in B1G play? I was taken aback by that so I remember it well. I have it on DVR, maybe I’ll try to find it again. Otherwise it was quite an error on their and my part.

Percentages can rise and fall quickly with so few attempts. McCabe is 11/27 so far. If she hits 2 of her next 3, she would be at 43.4%. If she goes 0 for her next 3 she would be at 36.6%.

It's possible you heard 45% and then she just missed a few.

I heard 45% for McCabe as well, but she has missed a couple shots since. In defense of Taylor, her percentage is based on her getting a minute or two comparing to Molly being in the game for longer periods. It seems to me that Taylor hurries her shot somewhat knowing she will be limited in time.
