So the mighty Bisen are rolling in to town....predictions? Match ups?

ps- expect 10,000-15,000 fans at the game for NDSU.

Even if 10,000 to 15,000 Bison fans get into Kinnick, that means 55,000 to 60,000 Iowa fans will be in the stands as well ... which, by the way, means that the number of Iowa fans in attendance exceeds the total capacity of the stadiums in Ames, Manhatten, Lawrence and Minneapolis.

10,000 to 15,000 Bison fans in an Arena Football venue like the FargoDome may get loud and intimidating to opponents but I don't think that the Iowa football team or its fans will be fazed in the least if 1/5th to 1/7th of the crowd is wearing green and gold. Not in the least.

But, hey, if it validates your existence and makes you feel better about yourself, keep crowing about NDSU's following and great tailgating parties. I'm sure it's a ton of fun. I'd only recommend one thing - when speaking, always remember your audience. NDSU's football Saturdays may be a ton of fun but bragging about 20,000 to 25,000 tailgaters is better aimed at fans of Coe College or University of Dubuque. Iowa has 20,000 to 25,000 tailgaters on both sides of the river every Saturday.

Did I read, in the prior 2 games, North Dakota State was scoreless against Iowa?

I don't see that remaining.

Further, in the first two football games for Iowa, the Hawkeyes have scored at least 40 points in each game.

I don't see that remaining either.

While North Dakota State has some outstanding streaks, something is likely to end on Saturday.

And, yes, we will hear 'in heaven there is no beer" play.

On Iowa!

peace

Has there been a smaller defensive backfield Iowa has gone up against that anyone can recall?

That strength coach is over paid

sophomore CBs Jaylaan Wimbush (6-0, 188) and Jalen Allison (6-0, 183)

Sophomore strong safety Robbie Grimsley (6-0, 183)

Junior free safety Tre Dempsey (5-10, 179)"

Their DEs and OLBs are small as well.

What?

That was the #2 team in the country! You guys want to start talking about how Iowa did against #6 Stanford?

Plus the Chuck South debacle seems more like a university president stretching out his iron fist.

That's strange... just rechecked the polls for this week and some team called Florida State is clearly the #2 team in the country. No mention of 'Chuck South' in either the AP or the Coaches' listings.

I just gave the advice to not judge a fanbase by one poster and I'm really trying to follow it here. I hope the hawkeye fans are brighter than this dude.

The NDSU fans on this board have been entertaining (I don't mean that in a good way) ... I can appreciate good discussion. However, many of the posts are desperate attempts to tell us how wonderful NDSU is and how they will be bringing 10,000 fans, etc. Bring 30,000 fans... I don't care. It will just be 30,000 disappointed fans making the 500+ mile drive back to ND.

I'm wondering if the majority of the fans posting on this board have inferiority complexes or maybe they're insecure people in general?

Coming on the opposing team's board and trying so hard to sell to Hawkeye fans how mighty your team is and how you will beat us ... well ... I'll just say it's interesting.

Personally, I would rather spend my time conversing with my fellow Hawk fans and not focused on what Bison fans are saying or doing on their boards. To each his own I guess. To the Bison posters ... we get it ... there will be 10,000 of you in Iowa City ... Iowa is over-rated ... You've beat mighty Minnesota and ISU and a few other marginal Power 5 teams ... And you have Big 10-level talent ... Check ... and mate.

The Bison fans that I drank with in Cedar Falls last time they played UNI were fun. That's all I got.

Had some time this afternoon so I've been listening to a pretty boring and weak NDSU podcast

About the 34 Minute Mark they go into a side-by-side comparison. Here is where they give the advantages.

QB? Iowa
RB? NDSU. I shit you not. They say their 4 guys are better than our 2.... mmmmk.

WR and TE: Iowa.

Oline: Iowa.

DL: NDSU. Say they have the best pass rusher on the field and their DT is better all around than Jaleel Johnson......

LB: NDSU. "Nick DeLuca is the best LB and the best front 7 player on the field. Jewell is good, but deluca has more experience and a better play maker and the OLB are seniors and have more experience"

DB: Iowa

Kicker/punter. One guy called it a wash. The other guy went back and forth but was trying to make the case for NDSU but gave in and called it a wash.

Returner: NDSU. LOL.

Score prediction:

Iowa 23 NDSU 21
NDSU 27 Iowa 24

Iowa fans need to throw out any arguments that involve Charleston Southern's loss to FSU. First off, not only do transitivity arguments not apply ... but Charleston Southern was missing something like 10+ of their scholarship players due to suspension against FSU.

Bison fans need to quit referencing their victory against KState. Not only was K-State breaking in a new QB that year ... but it was also the first game of the season. It doesn't hurt that Jensen was the returning QB for the Bison ... and that also happened to be a pretty dominant squad for the Bison anyhow.

While NDSU's Stick returns with starting experience from last year ... they're also facing an Iowa squad that returns a starting QB who plays at a very high level.

I firmly agree with the info coming out of Hawkeye players in interviews this year .... NDSU is clearly the BEST team that the Hawks have faced up until this point. Furthermore, as one of the better guys who covers Hawkeye football states (Marc Morehouse) - NDSU is essentially like a power Big 10 team (like a Michigan State or Wisconsin) that just happens to have fewer scholarships available.

I believe that a "winning mindset" goes far ... and it also helps when a team fully embraces the philosophy advocated by the coaching staff. NDSU players satisfy BOTH of those critical intangibles. Fortunately, for Iowa fans, we've seen the Hawkeye players satisfy BOTH of those intangibles TOO!

What some Bison fans don't realize is that their team would have an even better chance of winning the game if the Hawks were a team without an identity and if the Hawks were a foolishly cocky team that thought that they could win just by showing up.

What some Bison fans don't realize is that the 2016 Hawkeye squad is a team on a mission. They have a laser-sharp focus on returning to the Big 10 championship game ... so that they WILL WIN the Big 10! Such a laser-sharp focus only occurs by knowing how to approach each game the RIGHT WAY ... by paying meticulous attention to detail ... by respecting your opponent. And ultimately ... by playing better for 60 minutes. The Hawkeyes accomplished that objective through 12 games and 50 some odd minutes through last season. They're aiming HIGHER this year!

Frankly, I think that BOTH teams are going to LOVE playing each other. It's going to be an all-out brawl ... and they're BOTH going to appreciate and respect each other all the more for it. In the end, if you're going to brawl, it helps to have depth ... therein lies one of Iowa's advantages.

I like Iowa in a game decided by only 10 to 13 points.

we went so vanilla play calling wise those 1st 2 games. you might want to watch the K state/ndsu game for whats coming your way

I remember when Montana came into Kinnick in 2006. They were a 1-AA power at the time with a string of eight straight conference titles, a five year record of 55-15 with two national championship game appearances and one national title. They faced off against an Iowa team that went on to finish 6-7. They finished the season 12-2.

Iowa won the game 41-7.

Hawks will roll!

Here's how the front lines match up. I understand that the tale of the tape doesn't tell the whole story but they do have a big OL. In terms of physical match-ups, it looks like a good one on paper up front. I think it will depend on if their DL can hold up vs. our OL. But we'll see how they can move, block, and tackle.

I'm thinking in order for it to be a good game the Bison will have to score a lot of points, like 30's to 40's, which I don't see happening. They gave up 44 last week to Eastern Washington. NDSU could just as easily be 0-2 this year as 2-0 with both of their wins being in OT. Everyone saying they are the best team we have faced, it might be true, and on Saturday we will find out.

Iowa Defensive Line

It's Friday, so might as well post my prediction.

I see that ESPN is painting this as a game Iowa could easily lose. NDSU fans have been commenting left and right that they'll win big in Kinnick. With this Hawkeye team? Not going to happen.

CJ is at the top of his game and is healthy, Matt Vandeberg came off one of the best weeks of his career, and Daniels and Wadley have found terrific rythem in our offense.

On the Defensive side, while I'm still a little nervous about their recent performances, Desmond King and Josey are leading the guys in the right direction. They've only gotten better since the beginning of the season.

I would argue anyone that this Hawkeye team is the best team in the Big Ten. NDSU might have an impressive record at face value, but the FBS teams they've played have all been complete garbage; which in my opinion takes away a majority of whatever clout they had.

Iowa rolls to 3-0 with a 3+ touchdown victory, while NDSU struggles to get to double digits.

Iowa - 42
NDSU - 13

Many Iowa fans have to realize that it is easy to play up or down to your competition. We're used to thinking about how that applies to Iowa playing down to their competition. However, suppose you apply that same logic to NDSU ... it is equally possible that they occasionally play down to their weaker opponents ... but play with more zest and zeal when playing against a bigger dog like Iowa.

While I have great confidence in our Hawks ... I'm fully expecting the Bison to put up one hell of a fight.

Why? Besides of few ndsu who were freshman who played in that game none are playing in tomorrow's game. And with your so called "vanilla" play calling you are lucky charleston southerns kicker isn't very good cause you could easily be 1-1 and that game actually featured players playing tomorrow unlike KState game.

Good news too is less than 30hrs from now and lakebison will be out of our lives forever. Have a feeling after tomorrow he won't be wandering around here any longer...

Yep. Can't say it better myself. 37-13 for me.

I understand Iowa has maintained their top 25 ranking basically by default, but do NDSU fans really think they have a chance upsetting a B1G West contender on the road? You can't make it up. They have been in dogfights with teams that would finish at or near the bottom in the West. This is a matchup vs. basically an average MAC team and that is being generous. There should be red flags all over if Iowa doesn't win this one by at least 2 scores.

What? Did you just fly over little ol IOWA in your Learjet (or as you spell it leer jet)? You sir are the true definition of assmonkey.

I predicted in a earlier post that the game was going to be close HAWKEYES - 58 ndsu - 24. After reading some of the assmonkey posts of lakesbeion's (or how ever it spells it) I must change my prediction.

HAWKEYES - 58

ndsu - 3
