What’s interesting is that he tried to extort political favors from an ally by illegally withholding Congressionally approved military aid, and when making a list of his misdeeds, the list is so long this one can be missed. And of all things, that same ally was later invaded by the very country the aid was meant to protect them from.

Something that would absolutely ruin anyone else, and be the only thing they were ever remembered for, is just a footnote in his biography.
