Drake got out horsed on his last single leg. Drakes better than McKee, just doesn’t have the strength yet. I expect this result will be flipped soon.
He had about 1:15 of RT and was confident on his feet. He struggles to escape from McKee, as we saw in the 3rd. To be fair, he is better on his feet than McKee. Took him down twice and was very close to a 3rd.

Yes but McKee would have either had to turn him or let him up at some point and then they are back in their feet.
I understand he had riding time but if McKee gets the takedown, which he was going to need regardless, he was most likely going to erase RT anyways.
Drake had the last two take downs and was in on a single when McKee out scrambled him. McKee rode him out last time they met. Neutral was the right choice and Drakes best chance to win.
If Drake chose down, a McKee rideout would have been to force OT and not for the win, no?
Drake was up 1 and had over a min RT, so McKee couldn’t just ride him out to force OT, unless he picked up some stall calls on Drake.
No problem at all with the decision. Ayala isn’t going to win this match with McKee on the mat at this point in his career.

No. If Drake goes down, he’s still up one and McKee can’t get RT. Neutral made no sense at all.
Right. So McKee would get rid of RT, and then let him go. So in that scenario Drake would have been up by 2 and the McKee scramble at the end there would have forced OT instead of Drake losing.
No. McKee couldn't have gotten riding time. If drake choses down, McKee rides for a while to get riding time under a minute then cuts him loose to make it 6-4 Drake.

He turned him last time they met. As you saw bottom is not Drakes best choice against McKee. I maintain it was the right call. All drake had to do was get an escape and he had 52 seconds to do it.I would have bet on drake finishing that last single. If he does that no one is questioning.
The riding time really was not relevant because it was only 1:15 and so a takedown puts you down assuming it happens before :15 left in the match.

McKee could erase RT, but not enough time to gain a point. He would've been forced to cut him and go for a TD.
This is what I wasn’t sure about as I didn’t see their first match. With that being the case, I agree it was a right decision.
Agree, but as backups, they were probably underseeded. But all seem to be wrestling well, and figuring out what they need to work on.

Damnit. Cullan was mounting a comeback before foley got that last takedown. I love this kids tank. I’m happy with how he wrestled that 3rd period.
Though so too. Our young guys have to get cleaner finishes, especially since the more seasoned guys they have wrestled are more physical.
Cullan was game but not quite there yet. Needs a bit more strength and bottom proficiency.
horsepower an issue for ayala and schriever. very technical, but getting overpowered at key moments.
Hard hand fighting in the Wyatt match, someone yells easy, and Daniel Dennis says don’t worry about it, it’s wrestling! I’ve always loved that guy. Tough SOB.
The future looks bright with these two. Add in lil Nate and we’re looking really good!

I am so glad we were able to get these guys in this tournament. These tough matches will pay huge dividends.
