Heck, pay him $1 million and just have him do the Creaning for Fran and bring in a PG....FRan doesn't seem to have the heart for it.
Barta would never do that. As long fans are in the seats Barta could care less.
Crean would be an upgrade. He will have a job in the next year or so though.

FWIW, I suspect that the Iowa wrestlers will have a larger crowd this Friday than the BB'ers did tonight v. Michigan. The AD might take notice of that.
Tonight was pretty bad. It filled in by mid first half but both ends were empty with the students gone.
It almost took a player revolt when Lick was the coach - either he goes or all the players go so I wouldn't give the man too much credit for being aware of his surroundings.
After many seasons of failing, how are the wrestlers, once the pride of Iowa, doing these days? Any hopes of returning to Championship form at least in the Conference ?
Yeah, I remember. It was a few seasons under Lute Olson, once under Ralph Miller and a couple of years back in the 1950's.
No Crean, no thank you. He'd recruit but he can't coach his way out of a paper bag.
A lot of the IU fans label Fran as Crean with a temper.

Have you by chance looked at Crean's NCAA record at Indiana? It eclipses Fran, Lickliter, Alford and Davis. It has become so mediocre because we hired a guy from Siena who thinks he is playing in his old conference. I am not sure we would finish inthe top half of the Metro Atlantic.

Weird how sometimes fans will decide they want to hire a coach that they have made sh*t out of for a decade. His B1G winning % is awful compared to Fran (.438 v.520) and was fired by IU despite winning the conference twice and making it to the S16 3 times in 9 years!
In fact, he won the conference in 15-16 and went to the S16 - then was fired the next year. Yeah, they must have loved him at IU.

Sure, Fran is really on the hot seat given he just inked a new deal. Plus, he has done well given what he started with. Remember, Dr Tom inherited the greatest Soph class and overall talent of any coach of all time and rode that lightning bolt for his first 3 years. Fran followed Lick and did not have near the cupboard. Fran needs to break his glass ceiling soon- making it to the 2nd weekend of the Big Dance- but has overall delivered. Not perfect but he overall delivered.
I’ll eat my plate of crow! Fran has done a good job this year. Team is peaking at the right time.
Well, Coach Clappy was fired by Georgia. Whoever wants this guy can have him, so long as it's not Iowa.
