Watching it on PA Power website...First part of it is pretty funny so far. Seems like Pops had just got to France and was in a workout getting his butt kicked. Little Judo chick comes up to him as he's trying to get a breather and asks him if he wants to fight. She was little and he worried he might hurt her...she does a few snaps on him and then double legs him and slams him on the mat. The chick is Spencer's Mom. I'm like, this is making total sense now.

The movie is $6 through PayPal and users crashed the site when PA Power released it but it seems to be working fine now.

It was a great doc because you really got to see an inside look at his upbringing and relationship with his Dad, Mom and Jody Strittmatter. I guess I would say that there was a huge focus on values. Larry Lee was almost in a reverse position as a wrestling Dad...instead of the caricature dude yelling at his kid, he had to ramp Spencer down a bit and get him to see the outside world because he is so self-driven. Some Hawkeye stuff...stock footage of Terry after a YG's practice and why Spencer wants to go to Iowa. All in all, well worth the six bucks...especially how they went over last year's Jr worlds and the adversity that he faced. Spencer gives PbP on his finals match, telling you what he was thinking along the way.

Very happy to be getting this guy. Not only a great wrestler but a future room leader from the time he gets assigned his locker at Carver.

Not to hijack the thread or anything.......

But how do you think Lee will do at the Luther Open next year...........

Edit: Guess he will go in the Freshman division...........

Wondering about that myself last night. Could someone explain an Olympic redshirt?

you can take an olympic redshirt year from competition if you indicate you're attempting to make the olympic team. I think Medberry did it last year.

Since Wrestling is summer olympics, he would have a RS year in 2017-2018, RSFR in 2018-2019, Olympic RS, 2019-2020, RS Soph 2020-2021, RS JR, 2021-2022, RS SR 2022-2023....if he wanted

And the qualifications to get an Olympic Redshirt:

1) Defending national champion?
2) Freestyle champion/medalist?
3) What else?

From the most recent cycle:
There are four ways to qualify for an Olympic redshirt year  Only required to meet one criteria
1) Past National Team members (Top 3 from the World or Olympic Team Trials)
2) Top 8 at the 2015 Senior World Team Trials
3) Top 3 at the 2015 NCAA Wrestling Championship or NCAA Champion from a previous year AND top 2 from the 2015 University National Championships (must accomplish both)
4) Previous Junior or University World Medalist

Not only will this kid be one of the greats, it wont surprise me if someday he is our next coach or Athletic Director. Or both!

If Spencer is as good as advertised I wonder if he may go the Kyle Snyder route. If we follow the timeline posted above, I think there is a good chance that Spencer is the US rep for the worlds after the 2019 NCAA season.
