Spencer Lee on new Trackwrestling podcast w/ Eric Olanowski

Seems like he might want to wrestle next year which is very surprising. Hope his rehab is off to a good start.

Yea, that kind of surprised me too. TnT are always trying to win the title year and year out. They don't reload and sit on it like some other teams...
Well if they do go all in next year, would this team be good enough to take out tosu or psu?

25 Lee
33 Laux
41 Turk
49 Sorenson
57 Kemerer or Marinelli
65 Imar or Marinelli
74 Young
84 Wilcke
97 Warner
Hwy Stoll

Good team with 3 legit title contenders in Lee, Marinelli at 57 and if Imar comes at 65.
Still don't think it'd be enough tho.

I've only listened to the first few minutes so far....did he really say he's contemplating competing next season, or just reading too far into some comments? Would strike me as very odd since the plan from day 1 has been to redshirt.

He left the door open a crack but it seems they want to focus on rehab and getting bigger. We'll see at Midlands...if he smokes the field than the talk will start. I also think it depends on how the lineup is stacking up.

I thought the plan with him was always to redshirt anyways, and now with his acl injury and rehab, guess that would been the nail in the coffin with him redshirting for sure.

Without any sugarcoating, the direct answer to your question is NO, but IMAR would make it intriguing.

125: Lee desperately needs that year to fully recover, get healthy and get bigger. He is SOOOO talented I wouldn't exclude him from title consideration, but 5thish is very likely.
133: Laux is a 2-2 type at best.
141: Turk- I like him a lot, but making the podium is unlikely.
149: 2nd or 3rd.
157: 2nd or 3rd.
165: Imar-1st, Marinelli 6th.
174: Young 6th
184: Wilcke 6th
197: Warner-SO hard to gauge a TF at a "big boy" weight. I guess a Cox start is possible, but I would rather he redshirts.
285: Stoll-5th STAY HEALTHY.

With everything going right that would be
22(Lee-1st)+2.5(Laux)+4(Turk)+19(Sorensen)+20(Kemerer)+22.5(IMar)+11(Young)+11(Wilcke)+16(Warner)+12(Stoll)

That is 140 with me giving Iowa basically EVERY benefit of the doubt. Even with that PSU's relatively low end expectation is above that.

PSU:
125: 3rd-17 pts
133: 1-2 1pt
141: 1-2 1pt
149: 1st-28pts
157: 1st-27pts
165: 3rd-16pts
174: 3rd-16pts
184: 2nd-22pts(Really depends on Martin catching him and I have a hard time seeing it)
197: 7th-6pts
285: 5th-12pts

That is 146. Sadly, I really don't see them scoring much less than this and are very likely to score MORE!

What indication is there that there is any chance IMAR is coming to the Hawks? Has Perry said anything? Imar?

IMAR is not coming to Iowa! He has not graduated yet. He can't transfer without losing a year. This is not even an option so it should not be in the discussion. Who is to say he wants to come to Iowa? What he does after college will be determined after this next season.

By report, he is graduating after this semester. Perry is essentially his personal coach. If he wants to stay with Perry, Iowa is the place to go and he can likely transfer without losing a year.

Mark Perry interview on Takedown wrestling. Mark Perry specifically addresses the IMAR talk (can't remember the time), says he didn't even have the conversation about transferring or anything with him, because he never wants to influence guys, they can make decisions for themselves. But when IMAR is done collegiately, Perry said he's going to recruit him to the HWC, he'll be the first person knocking on his door.
