Spencer Lee will medically forfeit from the wrestle back round

The Univ. of Iowa has just announced that Spencer Lee will medically forfeit the remainder of the wrestle back round, effectively ending his career as a Hawkeye. Very sad news following the crushing defeat last night.
Sorry to hear this. Hope he can rebound to chase his freestyle dreams. Regardless, the young man can be proud of one Heck of a career. Not the finish he wanted, but a great career nonetheless.

I said staff. And a recent former NC and all time Hawk. In the suite with Tom’s family There was ALOT of concern this morning about his whereabouts. Folks legit worried about him. I have no clue why I’m explaining myself
Spencer had the chance to be one of the great ones, but quitting now that he can't win four is low.

He gave up on his teammates and remember tough guy: Excuses are for wussies!

BTW, I heard his mom just signed an NIL deal with Pearl Vision Center. Way to show some class there mom.
Because she broke her glasses? Have you ever competed at a high level ever? Not like she went full judo and slammed someone. We don’t know what happened or why. Spencer has always been a class act and always put his teammates first, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Shit stains like you are irrelevant and will never be remembered.

Oh booo freaking hooo. So he lost and doesn’t become a 4 timer. Guess his move to Iowa really changed him. The PA kid would fight back for third place, help his team get second place.and not just give up. Now all you Iowa quitters can start making excuses for him. Just remember, excuses are for wusses.
And the morons come out. You don't deserve to be a wrestling fan.

I dont see a guy with bad knees competing at the international level. ACL repair changes the geometric aspects forever. Multiple ACL repairs is very likely impossible to overcome. I feel very sad. But I thought somthing was up all year. When he got to the 3rd period in some matches this year he looked like he had concrete blocks for feet.
Having two ACLS and a separate meniscus operation on the same knee, I can assure you it's not the same. I'm not an athlete so I can't even imagine what it's like to compete on that level with those injuries. Mad props to him for all he's accomplished.

Would you fing morons shut up until we get the real story? You don't know what injury he has, if any. Nor do I.
Stop calling him a quitter and bs until you know the story.
WTF is wrong with you people?

lol.

easy way to tell.

was the info accurate?
Hahaha! That’s rich….

is Gobblin stealing Mineo's gimmick?

(sorry. had to.)
He’s showing he’s a fuclwad on here.
Apologies…. Hard to bite my tongue when people arrogantly spew such nonsense. Signing off. Go Hawks.
don’t spew he’s not on the building. You created a lot of hatred on here when you ran to the keyboard to type he’s not in Oklahoma. Like you want engagement from people.

Spencer is injured…. Badly. Again.
Sure. But why could he wrestle last night and not this morning? That's what everyone is getting at. Did something change in the last 16 hours other than the fact that he lost? Did his health change during that time? If so, let's hear it Mr. In-The-Know. If not, and the loss is all that changed, then the 'excuses are for wusses' thing loses a ton of credibility if you only believe that when you're winning.

Spencer is amazing to watch. He is one of the GOATs. But if he could've wrestled today, he should have wrestled today. And he wrestled last night, so...

Or he's just trying to share information on a breaking story and the source was wrong. Like happens all the time with breaking news.

When did the injury happen Doctor?

Just because he could have wrestled today doesn't mean he should have either.

So he’s good enough to wrestle for an individual title but not a team title? Eirman did it in severe pain, Kemmerer did it, and the list goes on and on. It’s not a good look. He’s the face of Iowa. Kids and recruits look up to him. This has the look of vindicating Ayala’s mother imo. I’ve always been the biggest Spencer fan but if he doesn’t show up tonight to support his teammates I cannot support that.

I spent the last 3 days hanging with Iowa fans here in Ok. All of these men and women love Spencer. We all love Spencer. The Sport loves Spencer. I hate this look for Iowa fans and their program. I hate this look for wrestling fans. I’d expect him to wrestle back for his teammates and be there cheering them on. I’d expect him to show that adversity happens to the best of us. It’s how you react to it. I hope the rumors of him and his parents leaving OK before the tournament was over isn’t true. As a wrestling fan, we need the Spencer Lee to be the guy we’ve watched for the past 5 years. Don’t burn it all down in a moment of adversity. I hope I am wrong. I hope he’s there tonight and leading his team the way they need him to.
What team title would he be wrestling for, genius?

I have no clue about the specifics of the decision. I’m very confident that if he could’ve gone he would’ve. I’d bet good money it was a trainer or coaches decision. Not to mention I think Spencer has sacrificed his body more than enough to not take an ounce of criticism in this regard.

I don't find it idiotic at all. You suggesting that you should only persevere through adversities when you have a chance to get the big reward?
Man, you’re truly being an idiot. If you’re hurt and have bigger goals, there is no sense risking further injury for third place.

Spencer has sacrificed A LOT for the University of Iowa. To question his commitment to this team is so f’n stupid.

Agree to disagree I guess, but I think coming back for third is a huge deal. If you can't get first, get the next best thing. Or is that just coach-speak BS?

I still think Spencer is legendary status for what he's accomplished.

However, he was able to wrestle last night. Why not today? If he sustained a new injury in the Ramos match or had some sort of new health crisis since that match, then I fully understand not wrestling. Otherwise, if you're good to go on the front side, you should be good to go on the back side. Don't treat coming back for third place like it isn't important.

What are we saying? Excuses are for wusses, but only in the championship bracket? Excuses are for wusses, but I don't want to take any risks now that I lost?

Like I said, agree to disagree I guess.

If true, what's the message? Only compete and push through things when you're winning?
That’s the thing though, Spencer should do what’s best for him and his health. As much as it sucks that he lost and isn’t wrestling today, he shouldn’t be worried about “the message” it sends to anyone. Only Spencer and a few others know what’s going on and if he doesn’t think he should wrestle today, we need to respect that and move on. He’s earned that. It’s amazing how young fans can understand that and appreciate everything he did for Iowa but grown men can’t.

Why? He’s injured and has absolutely nothing to prove. Lots of macho BS.

I'm sorry it ended this way. I enjoyed watching him wrestle.

There are guys like Delgado, Heil, Chris Perry, Chris "Stallalonga" Villalonga, and others that I simply couldn't stand to watch wrestle, personality or whatever aside. I always liked watching Lee wrestle since he was a freshman here in PA. At the end of the day, this is still a spectator sport, and Lee was fun to watch.

Fair enough. Still not gonna share details. You’ll find out from him or Tom soon enough. Or maybe you won’t.
Now this is the response I think you should have lead with instead of basically coming out and saying I know but i'm not going to tell you because i'm better than you. I'm sure that isn't the way you meant it but it does come arcoss like that. I would always support the answer that Spencer or Tom will explain the situation in due time if they so choose. That is exactly who should release any information medical or personal. I'm not entitled to know nor is anyone else unless the effected party wants to share. So to everyone that is pissed because Undercover or Gobblin choose not to share something they know need to just move on. Yes maybe they could share known info., but don't fell comfortable with saying anything, because they would rather it came from the horses mouth if it wants to talk.
