Spencer Lee will medically forfeit from the wrestle back round

Several others, many ex Hawk wrestlers we reporting th same thing. Push the narrative you like, but it was 100% a real thing in Tulsa. Everyone found out by him strolling in during Cass match. I got sent a picture when they saw him. Cope.
The guys that ask Gobblin what he knows sure give him a lot of s$%t when he tells them and don't trust his info. If that is the case, why ask? I honestly would have been shocked if Spencer wasn't there, but is it that crazy to think the staff wasn't sure of his whereabouts since he wasn't weighing in. I'm guessing they would leave Spencer to himself to process things, not babysit him all day. He is a high character man and I'm sure the coaches trust in his decisions right now. I sure would.

I’m sure they appreciate your texts about what people are posting on a message board while they try to enjoy nationals.
No more gotchas, you already got yourself. DJ Khalid style
They were reading the board dipshit. That’s what prompted the call and text.

Don’t know anything about him but he was wrong on this thread. Don’t believe anyone asked him for anything, he volunteered that he is an insider and knows what’s really going on with Spencer and then plays coy. 5th grade type stuff really

Who TF did I play coy? Because your spoiled ass thinks you deserve specifics? Ya ain’t getting them from anyone but Spence his family, Tom or none at all. Cope.

It’s time for recess little boy. You and your club buddies can go stake out the monkey bars.

Spencer's loss last night hurt me more than any sporting defeat that I can remember. In any sport. I truly hurt for him. And I hope that amongst the sadness, disappointment and bitter hatred for losing that he surely is feeling, he doesn't feel like he let his fans, his coaches or his teammates down. It was a gift watching him wrestle so brilliantly at Iowa and I hope he spends the rest of his life here. Ideally, as Tom's successor.

You don’t think parents, wives, athletes and coaches read these boards?? It’s part of the reason I feel the need to make these clowns realize how ridiculous they sound.
“Omg, I bet that’s jay borschel posting that”

Y’all initiate calls over what people say on message boards. I would hope they are smart enough to not pay attention to anything that is said on here or Spencer wouldn’t be in Oklahoma still.

Keep hoping…. Hold your breath while your at it.

Why are they wrestling in the semifinals with a torn bicep? And if it's not so bad they can't compete in the semis, then why can't they compete in the consis? IMO, what it amounts to is that you're devaluing the consis, which is something I won't do.

Agree to disagree I guess.
I can’t tell if you’re trolling or being obtuse. Have you ever competed in sports or watched sports? Athletes compete injured all the time when there is a goal in front of them that that they have worked all year or all their lives for. It’s a risk/reward ratio.

In Spencer’s case, if he indeed was injured again, what reason did he have to continue? The team race was settled, anything he did wasn’t going to move Iowa out of second place in either direction. A 3 time national champion has nothing to prove by wrestling for 3rd place injured. As others have noted, I wouldn’t be surprised if TNT were the ones that made the decision.

You know, if he isn’t, I’d ordinarily look pretty badly upon that. But thinking about it, with the way the last 18 hours or so has gone down, the sad reality is he'd likely end up being a huge distraction. And the other kids don’t deserve that. Not tonight. So whatever.

Agreed.

Yes. They absolutely read this board. Is that shocking to you. Parents too and some of you are absolutely cringe worthy and seem proud of it in some sick way.
Yeah but just remember I wasn’t the one talking out of my ass like I was Mineo. Hello parents, athletes and staff…. Hope you had fun at the tournament, quit feeding this guy stuff so he doesn’t post it on here and make us cringe.

The call was to thank me for doing Gods work here by making the March crowd look like fools. And honestly asked me to pass the message on from them as well. The concern over Spencer’s whereabouts got brought up because some folks were worried. Which I’ve already admitted was a mistake on my part and I regret it. That was certainly shitty lapse in judgement by me.

SL would be a distraction? Dude….

No - not trolling, and I don't think I'm being obtuse but it's clear you have your own opinion on that.

Yep - played many sports in my time and wrestled through college, for TNT actually. If they made this decision and they made it based on the logic you are presenting, then they would be hypocrites. The TNT I listened to would not have preached devaluing the consis or thinking in terms of risk/reward ratios or even the team race, nor would they have said the only reason to push through an injury is for the chance to win a title, or a fourth title. They would have preached that the next match is the most important because it's next. They would have said you compete to build character and for the love of the process and the sport (and because you love competition and the fight). They would have said you get back up when you've been knocked down. They would have maybe said some crazy things, like injuries are largely caused by your mindset and mentality (which I largely disagree with), but the point is that what they always preached was toughness, no matter the situation, & pulling out of a tournament after you lose would definitely not be in line with what they preached.

I don’t think the MFF is a big deal. Would feel differently if 2nd place was in peril. If it were maybe he would have gone anyway. He needs to be on the stand and team photos IMO from a PR perspective.

So you’re a priest now. Hallelujah. Posting on this shit site is gods work.

What are you on? I haven't talked or thought about Covid in over a year. I have no idea what I even said on this board. You're deranged.

I'm sure "the Brands' family box seats" that called you love that you're regurgitating whatever nonsense on forums and likely taking their words out of context and attributing it to them without their consent. You're a clown.
You’re assuming a lot shit you have no clue about. And you keep adding these quotations. It’s not exclusive. Many people sit in those suites and move around throughout. I took nothing out of context. You’re dying to find something that isn’t there numb nuts. And yes, I’m certain those I spoke to are thoroughly enjoying it. Give it up jerkoff.

Because they are fighting through it for a chance at title, not 3rd or 5th at that point. This isn't hard to understand, and it happens every single year. Are you new to college wrestling?

I'm not trying to be rude here, but this hardly a new thing.
Nope - not new to college wrestling at all. And the fact that it's not new doesn't make it right. Besides, Iowa wrestling is supposed to be different than the schools who allow their athletes to bow out of consi matches when they would have wrestled if it were on the championship side of the bracket. Devaluing 3rd or 5th (or any match for that matter) is not in line with what Iowa wrestling has always stood for.

Oh booo freaking hooo. So he lost and doesn’t become a 4 timer. Guess his move to Iowa really changed him. The PA kid would fight back for third place, help his team get second place.and not just give up. Now all you Iowa quitters can start making excuses for him. Just remember, excuses are for wusses.

After my wrestling season finished, I could be found at the local Bakery.........for quite some time.

Maybe Spencer was doing a Barry Davis thingy.....;)

You must be an old timer. That’s a great story.

There are numerous posts in this thread that would fall under the “5th grade stuff” mentality

So he’s good enough to wrestle for an individual title but not a team title? Eirman did it in severe pain, Kemmerer did it, and the list goes on and on. It’s not a good look. He’s the face of Iowa. Kids and recruits look up to him. This has the look of vindicating Ayala’s mother imo. I’ve always been the biggest Spencer fan but if he doesn’t show up tonight to support his teammates I cannot support that.

I spent the last 3 days hanging with Iowa fans here in Ok. All of these men and women love Spencer. We all love Spencer. The Sport loves Spencer. I hate this look for Iowa fans and their program. I hate this look for wrestling fans. I’d expect him to wrestle back for his teammates and be there cheering them on. I’d expect him to show that adversity happens to the best of us. It’s how you react to it. I hope the rumors of him and his parents leaving OK before the tournament was over isn’t true. As a wrestling fan, we need the Spencer Lee to be the guy we’ve watched for the past 5 years. Don’t burn it all down in a moment of adversity. I hope I am wrong. I hope he’s there tonight and leading his team the way they need him to.
This right here is the best response in this entire thread. It’s a bad look. True character shows when faced with adversity.

I really hope he didn’t just leave, that would be even worse than the MFF, which if anyone looking at it without the black & gold glasses on, would understand how bad of a look this is if he isn’t actually physically injured.
