Your right. I had forgotten of his mother's passing (3 weeks before the fight) and how much inspiration he said it gave him.You mean when Buster’s mom died and Buster went off...and then sucked forever.
Salvador Sanchez
Cus D'Amato's passing, Robin Givens and Don the King snake picked Mike apart. Your right tho Evander had his number.Gatti/Ward. Their first fight was the best damn fight I've ever seen.
Hearns/Hagler. Just non stop action. Delivering and taking a beating. Made me a fan of both of them that night.
Tommy was so much fun to watch as he came to beat ass. He was absolutely robbed by Sugar Ray who had a knack for using his flair to win decisions rather than skill. I never liked Leonard due to that. He screwed Hagler as well.
I never liked Tyson that much. Guy never beat anyone but so many who grew up in the 80's/90's think he's the greatest. Nah...just whipped a bunch of punching bags; Evander picked him apart.
Sugar Ray Leonard and Ali. They both were champs during a golden age in boxing. For me it was Tyson. I was in Jr. High when Iron Mike decided he didn't need to train for Douglas. Nintendo Punch-Out was a Blast.

I don't believe for one second Holmes would beat Ali, for sure, or Foreman in their prime. Ali, in his prime, didn't get hit. I don't think people understand how great pre suspension Ali was.Larry Holmes was a great Heavy Weight would have killed Tyson, Frazier or Foreman in his prime.
Every bit as good as Ali if not better! Greatest Jab in history!!
His 1970s fights were generally on ABC's Wide World of Sports.Ali
Granted, I rarely got to see Prime Ali cause he's sort of a half generation before my time, but there was a time where he was the most famous athlete in the entire world.
Words cannot describe how big the deals the first Frazier fight and the Foreman fight were. I remember using my dad's Zenith Transoceanic and trying to find some sort of short wave radio broadcast of both.
They were Big Deals back when you simply had a nearly impossible time finding live, current information on the event itself. The entire sports world across the globe stopped for those events. There was no cable TV, no ESPN, no internet.
Hagler didn't get robbed. Not in my view. Leonard outpointed him when people thought Hagler would walk through him. That didn't happen.Hagler. Admired the way he screwed boxing and Leonard back after he got robbed in the Leonard fight. . It happened just like Marv said it would. After Leonard started hearing from everyone he didn't win that fight...he was the one begging for a rematch and Hagler said FOAD. Took a big man to walk away and screw them back.
Foreman hit guys like his arms were actually tree trunks...that's what it looked like to me.Ali.
But, George Foreman had the most devastating power ever. For his size, Marciano had enormous power. These guys were scary.
I'm going to throw Shavers and Ron Lyle into this...here's one of the most brutal heavyweight fights I have ever seen. Nothing but haymakers being thrown and landed.Foreman, Frazier, Ali, Norton, Holmes and Jerry Quarry. What a time for heavyweight boxing.
Holyfield had Tyson’s number, but Tyson has Holyfield’s ear.Cus D'Amato's passing, Robin Givens and Don the King snake picked Mike apart. Your right tho Evander had his number.

Holmes went through his entire career without fighting anybody
Liston took a dive in the rematch and quit in the first fight. Liston ruined boxing for me. After that was never as interested.Ali never beat Liston that was as fixed as any pro wrestling match. Fraud
