Sports Illustrated is gone.........

Can't say I'm surprised... in fact I'm surprised there are any magazines still chugging along. Used to read SI and Sporting News all the time. Now, between tv, sports score apps, X, Athletic, online publications... I find plenty of news on sports. I do miss not having more in depth stories told like SI, Sporting New or even the old ESPN magazine once did... but that's the way it is.

I loved Sport magazine back in the day. I saved every copy and had them all for a long time. And I would get SI and Sporting News subscriptions for Christmas often.

All the Breitbart people will say their go woke slogan. Though none of these people actually read SI because it was about sports.

I haven't paid attention in years and didn't want to take the time to look it up, but I thought I remembered they started putting old ladies, fat ladies, and I believe even a dude or two on the cover. That would be the end of that.
ESPN doesn’t seem to catch flack for the body issue and that’s all kinds of people.

Swimsuit edition was once a year, SI was more than that issue back when they had good journalists.
100% of sports illustrated ads mentioned the swimsuit issue. It's what they were best know for and made no qualms about that for a long time. ESPN is known for live sports.

Some of the more famous and brilliant sportswriters
who wrote for Sports Illustrated and made it a must read.

Rick Reilly, Frank Deford, Jim Murray, Peter Gammons,
Rick Telander, Peter King, Tex Maule, Dan Jenkins.

This is a sad day for sports journalism when this great
magazine calls it quits.

I loved the Old Sporting News the most really.

I get the Chicago Sun Times and one of the things I like is reading the actual newspaper version in .pdf

Still love scanning box scores in a way you cant on the Internet

Awesome.

So far today, the failure of SI, a plane, a Boeing jet engine (which Boeing doesn’t make), and public schools have been blamed on DEI.

Clearly the minions have receive their marching orders
I especially love how they totally ignore all the people that get where they are via various family connections, etc. and claim the US would be a meritocracy without any DEI.
