All of this. Steak & Shake does not get enough props. That’s a shame. I don’t eat fast food but when I did, it was hard to beat Steak and Shake. Their burgers are delicious, shakes are awesome, fries were so-so. But the price was excellent. I couldn’t believe how cheap they were for the quality you got. And they had a good breakfast.
Lol. They all do! It’s their downfall. If they had the service of Chic Fila, they’d crush it. But every Steak and Shake has a competition as to who can move slower or be less engaged. There's a Steak and Shake not far from my house and my kids enjoy it from time to time. I'm not exaggerating when I say that particular location has the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant.
They had issues before all of this and COVID was just another kick in the junk.
I could not believe how cheap the food was there, I always wondered how they could make any money.
A lot of firms are gonna “trim the fat”.COVID-19 just accelerated their closing. Now is a good time to cull the heard. I know we are seeing it in our firm. Meaning using a small dip we are seeing as an excuse to get rid of bad performers/difficult to work with /undependable types that are sometimes hard to get rid of when things are slammed.
I like the burgers and shakes were fair to midland when I used to partake before the diet. but this one here is a complete piece of garbageTried them a couple times.
Was not that impressed. We will see a lot of this for some time
in the near future I think.
Food places are very competitive and it does not take much to close a place due to so many places
serving food.
never tried it. I don't think they have it here. no employees to get up that early and open up the storeI could eat their breakfast every day.

You guys have Freddy's out there? Only seen them out west, but very similar. The one I went to was like a slightly better, cleaner version of S&S.

we got Freddy's here . the one in san Antonio north of town in Schertz has been there a while like 15 years or more. we had one in austin that closed, lack of business. there's one in new braunfels and one in san marcos. and now one in buda tx. they are good. lack of long lines in drive thru though in the ones in buda and san marcos, so I wonder if they shall close like the one in austinYou guys have Freddy's out there? Don’t put me on blast like that bro. Not cool.
Texas is all about their whataburgers. Only a few in the panhandle of fl. One here in cfl closed after a yr.I personally think Freddy's is better than steak and shake, cleaner, better stuff. better food. better management. however people in tx do not get the Midwest burger thing at all. steak and shake is big in Illinois. Freddy's is witchita Kansas. texas people like Whataburger. they don't like culver's much here either. so we had one in buda tx and it closed, the culver's did. became a whataburger
this. I wonder if the covid is an excuse for an already dying business model. I guess the millennials want to call a drone to drop off fresh fries somehow at their houseLots of places are going to fold.
fast food is for convenience while traveling or working or out shopping. Very few are worthy of destination dining and IMO even fewer de worthy of picking up and driving home. French fries are awful after just a few minutes.
sports bars are going to feel it also for similar reasons.
I went {drove} to the orange bowl in 2002 and I stopped in Tallahassee and ate at a Whataburger there. it was good. i got a hotel there. near that whataburger, up a hill from there headed to the highway. there was a fondue restaurant near my hotel on that hillTexas is all about their whataburgers. Interestingly enough, culvers just opened here about a yr ago. Never heard of them until then. They are legit for a ff place.
Ate at that one on Monroe there many times hungover in college.I went {drove} to the orange bowl in 2002 and I stopped in Tallahassee and ate at a Whataburger there. it was good. i got a hotel there. near that whataburger, up a hill from there headed to the highway. there was a fondue restaurant near my hotel on that hill
lately I noticed massive amounts of burger kings here are just closing shop. before the covid too. I dunno what is wrong with BK other than they are dirty and old stores in disrepair and their food kind of sucks.
I figured as much because it was new years' eve and a bunch of drunks and college kids that night!! I went downtown to some bar near the square or whatever they call it, and there was a band playing metallica and ac-dc blue grass style with banjos and stand up bass. it was most awesomeAte at that one on Monroe there many times hungover in college.
I actually worked there for a short time. yeah, those grills are a metal chain conveyor belt. we had a restaurant in Ottumwa with that same set up. called mr quick. the pizza places use that too like at dominos. the conveyor belt goes across the heat. the grease drips down. thru the metal belt or chain. good stuff. I think the heat source is an open flame. probably gas. but that grease drips on that flame and smokes and it is awesome. they use crappy meat though.I've always found Burger King to be quite strange. When they are cooking up their burgers on the flame-grill, there is no restaurant anywhere that smells as good. Smells better than the finest steakhouses, better than top level Italian joints, better than the top oceanside seafood restaurants.
Then you get a burger. And it's Burger King. And it is terrible.
Their drive-thrus are the slowest in the world. I get that it means they are making it special for me, but I prefer that they at least slaughter the cow before I get there. There's a Steak and Shake not far from my house and my kids enjoy it from time to time.
