Stock Market Today: Dow down almost 800 points, S&P 500, Nasdaq tumble after Trump refuses to rule out recession

From the beginning we needed .to ask what makes Elon an expert in efficiency. The only recent story we can point at is Twitter. Comes in and fires 80% of workforce. Finds out what he wants to keep then rehires them. Twitter is still not making money. The user experience is worse. And things for content creators still are restricted if Elon doesn’t like your free speech. Transfer that skill set over to government. Where you are constrained by laws and the need of reliable services to be uninterrupted.
It was a bad fit from the beginning.

Anyone with any sense of what it takes to reduce staff and expense at scale knows this. I've fired more people than I've hired because I'm good at it and people bring me (well brought now that I'm out of the game) in to do it. The vast majority of people don't have the experience to know this is a clusterphuck that is going to blow up in our faces.

The bolded is what I'm most disappointed in. I was honestly very hopeful for DOGE and thought it might be a good thing to come out of a drumpf presidency. Instead, it's phuck up after phuck up, false claims that need walked back, snarky assholes doing the messaging, and trampling over our laws and privacy. People are going to have zero appetite for this again and these assholes are blowing it.
I agree, but we know they’re just going to lie and declare victory and 40% of the population will buy it.

Dems would be looking to have Biden impeached if he did 1/3 of what Trump has done to destroy the economy and create enemies of our allies just 6 weeks into his presidency.

But we’ve got “crickets” from MAGA (except for all the vets and other Trump supporters that didn’t anticipate getting fired was part of the great plan)

I put WDT on ignore months and months ago. Not even a bit curious as to what jibberish he’s spouting.

MAGA mouthbreathers won’t face reality, so I put them all on ignore. They got us in this mess, and I’m tired of seeing their posts still defending Trump and Musk.
I’ve come close, but now I just make fun of him in every thread for his acceptance of shit 40% success rates.

Wall street views economical health by quarter.

For the benefit of the country long term, we need to view things differently.

Unless you sell, you still have your shares.

That's not the way trump views it or has viewed it in the past. He gave himself credit every time the DOW was up during his first term. Stop making excuses for the scumbag.

We are at a point where a serious run is going to happen. Panic is in the air. I would bet at least a dozen posters here or more are regretting not pulling out ( uh, huh huh, huh huh) like many of us said we were couple of weeks ago. Once it gets Psychological, bad things happen. The market it still high from where it was a year ago so look out.

Hey look on the bright side, when we all look back at graphs of economical (and other) trends through the years we can point and label this "Start of 2nd Trump Presidency" and we will all remember how awful those times were. This is what will make those future times more enjoyable.

He is the classic dumb person that is literate just enough to find confirmation bias infotainment that convinces him he’s actually got things figured out.

A real “do my own resurch” type.

And a perfect avatar for what is ailing the American electorate.

You’re trying way too hard to defend the indefensible. Let me help you. These fvcks in the oval office have no idea what they are doing. None, zip, zilch.
OK.

Well then, bet on this, Narcissists want to be perceived as being the best, plan your financial decisions regarding that, and Trump's priorities, accordingly.

You can thank me later.

What I can’t understand is why you continue to assume he, or those around him, are competent. He is a f*cking bumbling fool who lurches from one dumbass whimsy to the next.

Yes he wants to be perceived to be the best, he has wanted that forever. But he lacks the acumen to make it happen.
  • It is why he cheats at golf.
  • It is why he thinks everyone cheated him in 2020.
  • It’s why he constantly exaggerates his accomplishments
  • It’s why he lies over and over again
And it is why he will attempt to lie and manipulate his way out of an economic crisis. But here is the funny thing about economics - it is a function of mass psychology, market fundamentals and a bit of spurious luck. He cannot truly control all of those, even if he forces his admin to lie about the economy people will see through it. Hell, the Biden issues with inflation are a major reason why the Dems got pummeled last November despite their protestations that the economy was strong. If Trump attempts to manipulate the electorate all they have to do is check the price of eggs and gas. Trump cannot control those things and he cannot control the reaction to his dumbass tariffs.

You guy bit off an issue that is way beyond his capacity to manage. He flew too close to the sun and he is going to get fried.

I don’t think he’s dumb but he’s full of shit most of the time and supremely confident in his own intellect. Kinda like Trump.

Most of Whiskey’s posts can be summed up in a gif:

Ignorant is a better word. I don’t think he’s intellectually slow. Just easily manipulated and lacking in general knowledge of history, politics and economics.

You only have a general knowledge of being a worthless leech and bathhouses.
