Suriano a game time decision for B1G tourney

Thanks. The other thread discussing this issue was broken.

This is just a spare..........

In case the other thread goes ballistic and gets deleted.

I didn't state an absolute, I said "sometimes."

What flavor does the Koolaid taste like?
What was the point of your "bravado" post when the match up we are talking about directly contradicted it? I hope everything is alright with you because you never used to be so negative about everything. My koolaid tastes great and life is good. I get to watch some great Hawkeye wrestlers this weekend. There is a lot to be excited about with the program.

I totally get being frustrated we haven't won a title in so many years. None of us like it. I just think it is counterproductive to post stuff that can be ammo against the program. There are posters that make personal attacks on our wrestlers for example. That is uncalled for. I hope the posters remember that current parents and recruits parents sometimes read this board. Spencer Lee's father made a post about how much they dislike message boards. We are all passionate fans but too many times posters are way out of line in my opinion.

The best thing we as posters can do to help the program is to not post anything on here that we wouldn't say to the wrestlers, coaches or parents faces, and donate to the club. This post is not directed at any particular poster.

Fwiw, the accusations of negativity began when I got fed up with the hypocrisy that some posters had with regard to holding out wrestlers. Note I never posted my opinion about the coaches' decision, only about the reaction that some Hawk fans had. Tom Ryan has been crucified on this board on several occasions, and yet Brands makes the same decision and there were lots of passionate excuses. I understand this is a Hawk board so we defend our own, but the reactions were over the top imho. For all we know both coaches made the appropriate decisions to protect their wrestlers and put them on the best position for personal and team success.

And suddenly I became a formerly good poster who turned sour.

If it makes you feel any better I never considered you a good poster.

Sometimes we need to "re-boot" a little. . . .

AF is a diehard Hawkeye and a super guy. I can respect his distaste for inconsistency among some Iowa fans where holding guys out of competition is concerned. That said, he's normally a positive fan and he's never been the kind of fan to be hypercritical of our wrestlers.

Champion is also a great fan. Always optimistic and hopeful, and eternally supportive of the Hawks.

So AF and Champion, both, are huge supporters of our guys. They may disagree now and then, and that's cool. These two guys agree on much more than they disagree. It's worth pointing that out now and then.

If so, moves Lizak to three seed and Gilman doesn't have to face him in semis
I'll address this before this thread goes further into the abyss and it's lost forever.

If he doesn't wrestle Suriano would stay in the bracket and injury default out to buy another couple weeks of healing going into NCAAs. No seeding at B1Gs will change because of this other than effectively making whoever Suriano draws the 2 seed because he will be gifted the match. Great news for that guy when the draw comes out, the 7 seed Oliver and the 3 seed Lambert.

not worried about Lizak one bit. He won't take Gilman down again and Gilman wont choose down against him. Easy TF for Gman.
Yeah -- I'll be surprised if Thomas beats Lizak by anything short of a major the rest of the way. I see multiple first-period takedowns, taking neutral, and worst case, spending a period underneath him without getting turned. Between the first period and the period where he takes neutral, he plays catch and release non-stop.

papa thats only if he forfeits not if he withdraws before the tourney, like say he's hurt worse than we know and ncaas are out as well, but if that was the case probably not a game time decision. i'm just spitballing here.

Without another realistic option to qualify I don't see them pulling the plug before giving him the additional 2 weeks. Also if he pulls out of the B1G bracket the conference loses the NCAA allocation he earned. Cael wouldn't do that.

If you watch the video, he's clearly saying "I broke my ankle". Not sure if that had been talked about before, but weird as to why he would say that over and over.

Having a seriously injured ankle also probably hinders maintaining and making match weight, too. I imagine he'll be logging 100s of miles on the exercise bike(?)

Good point, didn't think of the allocation spot he has earned for the conference

Just an FYI, Sanderson addressed that comment after the dual. He said Nick had never been injured before and overreacted with the broken ankle comment.

I think we can all agree that we don't know the seriousness of the injury and Carl is not going to give us the truth. Just like Brands wouldn't. We still don't really know the extent of CC's injury

So Lizak can wrestle three periods will Gilman? Hell, no. Lizak better pin him early and I for one am just looking forward to see how he handles the ride this time.

Sometimes an ankle sprain can make a pop sound. Mine did once. On the other hand, maybe he did break his ankle and he's doing the hyperbaric oxegen therapy hoping for a miracle.

I've sprained and/or popped my ankle, 20 times at least in my life, never thought it was broke. Maybe he had never done it.

What ever Soriano's situation is, they will have to deal with it. CC is injured and we are dealing with that. I have thought since January 20th, Soriano was Gilman's biggest obstacle. We also lost our Heavy so it is hard to feel too bad for PSU on their injuries. It happens. Would have liked to see a healthy rematch at 125.

Dance has never been an easy match for Gilman. He worries me, but will see if he can even make the finals.

Yeah I have always been a fan of go out, kick all comers asses, and seeding will take care of itself. Even if you are not the 1 seed doesn't mean I can't kick your ass come NCAA's if you actually did duck me in competition during the year.

Edit - My taking on all comers didn't exactly end up favorable every time but I never ducked anyone, if a top quality wrestler/coach actually does it while 100 healthy then shame on them period!

This board isn't for just a bunch of positive homers. I'm not posting a single thing that first is going to have to go through a "uh oh, a wrestling parent may be here filter". If there are things that are negative then this is also THE place to discuss them. That's what a message board is for.

Negativity is negativity, so don't be a hypocrite and be so negative against AFHawk. First, he's not a negative poster and, second, he's a great American.

If anyone on HR is curious because of the effect @ 125 for B1Gs:

On his live Wednesday radio show, Cael said Suriano will definitely participate on Saturday at Big Tens.

They will just wait until Saturday to decide if Nick wrestles all matches, only one match, or starts his first match and quickly medical forfeits.
