Gonna protect the ankle and give the extra available time to heal. Take the mat, blow the whistle and default out. I would be shocked if he competed a single minute at B1Gs.Would be very surprised if he wrestles all the matches. I'm thinking they can win the B10 even without his points.
This board isn't for just a bunch of positive homers.
I'm all for balance, and have never came close to insinuating the board is just for negative nellies. Having said that, as I said before, negativity is negativity. Complaining about complainers is still complaining. That should be considered if someone is going to go negative on an individual and preaches against negativity.Good morning Randy, this board also isn't just for a bunch of negative nellies. Just keep posts in line with what you would tell the athlete, parent, or coach to their face. Serious question, is that too much to ask?
A lot of us come here to read about the team. Often there are new articles or interviews posted, and the recruiting videos have been great. The ones constantly complaining ruin the board in my opinion, and are a big reason why several posters no longer share good information. It isn't much fun filtering through the negative stuff while trying to find some good information. I realize it takes all sorts to make the world go round, but I can't wrap my head around grown men losing it about a high school recruit or poor dual performance. In the end, everyone will post how they want and more and more positive posters will probably move on.

To answer your serious question, I think public speaking can certainly have a different tone than speaking to someone one on one. One is a group dynamic and one is an individual dynamic. It's like that last state of the union speech. It's often impossible to not offend somebody. I certainly will change my language some to be inline with a specific individual I know whose feelings and positions are known to me. I have that opportunity because I know how an individual thinks. A board is a super broad spectrum, making it impossible to be so specifically tuned. And readers of a board also have the responsibility to know that broad statements shouldn't be taken personally. It's the nature of a message board. And we must remember it is ONLY a message board, made up mostly of anonymous fans.
My response is mostly about the negativity against AFHawk's alleged negativity. I had him in my suite in St. Louis for a nationals and he simply an outstanding individual, has great wrestling knowledge, and loves the Hawks. Of course, you are an outstanding fan, too. I certainly didn't mean to imply otherwise, and apologize if my tone was too stringent.
Fwiw, the accusations of negativity began when I got fed up with the hypocrisy that some posters had with regard to holding out wrestlers. Note I never posted my opinion about the coaches' decision, only about the reaction that some Hawk fans had. Tom Ryan has been crucified on this board on several occasions, and yet Brands makes the same decision and there were lots of passionate excuses. I understand this is a Hawk board so we defend our own, but the reactions were over the top imho. For all we know both coaches made the appropriate decisions to protect their wrestlers and put them on the best position for personal and team success.
And suddenly I became a formerly good poster who turned sour.
I'm with you. Since I don't toe the straight "team" line, some have deemed me as being anti-Iowa, somehow. We can have constructive and critical conversations about the program and coaching staff without being "secret haters".
