Sydney Affolter

While McMahon ended up with a fair amount of points yesterday Syd was again incredible on her defensively and on the boards. She struggled early in the year finding her role but it’s clear while undersized she the perfect 4 for what this team needs. Which is also why Hannah needs to be the 5.

Great point

All I can say is Hannah better learn the 4 for next year. Ava and Layla can't just sit on the bench while Hannah misses layup after layup.

It might seem like a bridge too far for Hannah to play the 4. But really, all she has to do is take over for Affolter - e.g., play tough D, rebound, run the court, and hit some outside shots. Affolter does nothing out there that HS can't do.

I think Hannah maybe expected too much this year when moving to the 4. She was trying too hard. She doesn't need to be a star, just be like Affolter.

[Affolter is not plan B at the 4 position, she's the Gold Standard]

Well that sounds good BUT I'd bet if you peruse the two players 3pt field goal % made, and free throw %, you might just have to take back that "Affolter does nothing out there that HS can't do". Call me doubting Thomas. I'll believe it when I see it. I'd say Syd also handles the ball better against the press and in traffic then HS. Hannah has good games on the boards, but Syd may be the best rebounder I've seen on a Bluder/Jensen team. She has an uncanny nose for the ball, and she's relentless every game. Hannah has too many ebbs and flows in her productivity.....

Yeah, through 15 conference games Affolter has converted 22 of 42 3-point shot attempts. I don't know it's something that Stuelke will be able to do.

I'm not on board with this for one reason and it is HUGE, imho.

Syd pulls the defense out to her and opens the lane for others to drive more freely.
Players sag off of Hannah at the 4 and it clogs the lane.

This one feature alone allows us to play faster. To me, that's another gold standard.
