If a state ever comes up with a system where once you pay your debt you actually own your property I WILL buy land there. Thought Texas looked at this a couple years ago.

The $47 billion in property tax goes to local government. He’s saying this for visibility and because it doesn’t affect him.
Unless you're living off the grid and don't use sewer/water/roads/sidewalks/schools/any other infrastructure, it makes complete sense to have an ongoing obligation to pay taxes related to the same.
I'm accounting for the roughly 30 years i would have paid in while paying of my loan.
I am shocked, but not surprised, at the GOP voter base not realizing that something has to pay the bills for needed things that only the government can do.

Missouri and Iowa (at a minimum) are thinking about getting rid of the income tax. Most states seem to be pretty flush.
Just more political theater from a do nothing governor.
Nothing irritates me more than paying the properly taxes twice a year but understand why we do it.
