Newsflash gents....a basketball game is over when the clock hits 0:00.....not when you think you're ahead by enough that the other team will just quit. Jeezus!
I will say the US did play some tough D. Just seemed to let off the gas to much on Offense.

Have to disagree. They seem pretty excited. Not as hyped as France looks devastated though.
KD didn't touch the ball nearly as much as I was hoping for in the 4th. Dame (except the fts) did well but both Holiday and Middleton missed a few that may have iced the game.

For all of us keeping track at home we had more individual winners in men's golf (1 event, not favored) than men's track (10 events, many favored). Field not included.
France has as many NBA players as every team in the 1992 Olympics (minus the Dream Team) had combined.
Gold sweep in golf. Possible gold sweep in hoops. Chance to make up for one loss to Japan in one ball and bat sport (softball) by taking gold away from the host country in the other (baseball). Women's water polo and volleyball playing for gold as well. And US track men could still salvage some small measure of team pride in the 4x400. The overall medal count is a runaway for the U.S. But we still need a few more to overtake China in the gold count.
Yeah, it was clearly basketball in this case..... American men finished the competition with gold around their necks. Again. That would never happen in kickball

I am pumped for the US basketball team to win gold but why did you take a shot at soccer?
1. Girls have won the WC 4 times.
2. Dudes won 2 trophies in the last 2 months.
3. We didn't invent the game and only had immigrants who were interested represent our team early on. All were amateurs. We have been playing over 100 years of catchup and are ranked in the top 20.
Solid post. But one small quibble, its about 90 years of catch up. Our men won the bronze at the 1930 World Cup with a surge of European immigrants making the game big here. The men also made the bronze medal game in 2000 before controversially eliminated in the 2002 World Cup quarterfinals by Germany. Then in 2009 we snapped Spain’s world record win streak in the FIFA Confederations Cup semifinals and nearly beat Brazil in the final. Our men’s day will come.

Late in the game, they took way too many early threes. They could have moved the ball around and maybe put Gobert into foul trouble earlier, but they kept launching threes as soon as the ball crossed mid court.
They very easily could have blown it.
