A certain friend of mine has been telling me what a dump it is. Disease, poors, filth, smog, crime. I have never been, but isn’t San Diego, for the most part, a pretty dope place to be?

San Diego has a wonderful climate
for the entire year. Great view of the
Pacific Ocean. Tourist attractions are
S.D. Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park,
S.D. Yacht Club.

One of my thrills in San Diego was
visiting the San Diego Yacht Club.
My friend and his wife took my wife
and I on their yacht for a tour of the
harbor. Afterwards we ate at Yacht
Club and saw the trophy room.

Nice Maritime Museum too. They have the ship they built for Master and Commander if you are into that type of thing. Their is a naval base there. When I was a kid I got to "impress" a sailor guide with what I knew about a destroyer escort's armament. I wanted to see the submarines but that part was closed to tourists on the day we went.

Possibly the best all-around city in the US, all things considered, especially to visit.

If there was one city in the US I could move to it would be San Diego. I really liked my trip out there, other than the girl I traveled with.

Went a few years ago for the Bears @ Chargers game. Stayed for a week at a beach house on Mission Beach.

- The zoo was everything it was cracked up to be except no rhinos. They sell booze there.
- Gaslamp District sucked. Like, sucked bad. Bunch of pretentious assholes. I'll never go back there.
- The bars up and down Mission Beach/Pacific Beach were awesome. Way better people who were there to have a good time and drink instead of be someone they aren't (Gaslamp).
- QualComm Stadium is an absolute shithole. I thought the worst football stadium in the world was FedEx Field (DC) until I went to QualComm.
- The airport is tiny. Like just a tad bigger than DSM.
- TJ is a short uber away. Go at your own risk.

Along those lines...I loved visiting the USS Midway that is in SD on display. In fact, I went two times in the same week when I was out there a few years ago. If you have any interest in maritime or military(Navy) history I am sure you would enjoy this walking tour.
