THAT was a good game!

This is not a great pu team, but they are certainly respectable. Agree that they are probably a middle of the pack B1G team this year.

Obviously encouraging that the D stepped it up on a night when the perimeter shooting was again not great. Neither Bohannon or Fredrick were lighting it up. And Jack and Connor were an abysmal 0 for 8 combined from beyond the arc. I love the grit and determination that Jack is showing, but he's got to stop shooting that ball unless wide open late in the shot clock.

More Joe T please. Joe got 11 minutes; Jordan had 29 minutes.

Overall a good conference win.

Middle of the pack B10 team this year, I agree 100%.....and this year that is saying something. I watched them beat a top 25 Ohio State team.....and they did not look nearly as good against the good guys last night. I will be surprised if Purdue doesn't finish just below the top contenders in the league and make the tournament with a reasonable seed.

I will agree our defense was better tonight. However, Purdue missed a bunch of WIDE open 3s.
Yes, but there's a reason they were being missed. Iowa never allowed them to get comfortable or in rhythm. Defense set the tone early. How many times has Iowa started a game lackadaisical on defense and guys started getting going early? And then when Iowa decides to pick it up hot shooters are making difficult shots? A LOT.

Purdue missing open 3s was a byproduct of the defensive energy Iowa exerted from the beginning.

Is that why Iowa shot so poorly against Gonzaga; the Zag's defensive energy? Because to my uneducated eye the Hawks missed a fair number of wide open 3s, just like Purdue last night.

And, FWIW Ken Pom covered this topic about 5 years ago:
