That Whole Jump Ball Sequence Makes you Wonder.......

Actually I am, you just somehow believe that because we turned the ball over 18 times we should automatically lose. So against Sparty when we get that 18th turnover should they just stop the game and hand the ball to Sparty and walk off?

Iowa did tons of things horrible in Wednesdays night game, but with 20.3 seconds they had the lead and the ball. The ref choose to call a jump ball when 2 things (Ellingson was calling for a TO and the player who tied Ellingson up was OUT OF BOUNDS). So in those two things, the REF was out of position and his partners were out of position as well. These guys are paid 1-2K for each game and they give that type of performance is pathetic. You could put a JH ref out there and I am sure he wouldn't mess that up.

Fran and company had even communicated to the game officials if Iowa got the ball back (after a make or missed shot) they wanted a Time-out. Officials did not grant it, which is very strange.

But if you have to stoop to name calling it only shows your true character.
ok buckwheat nobody can communicate a timeout it must be called by someone on the floor. the point of the 18 TOs to go along with 40% FG shooting is that if we have 5 less TOs that could be 6 to 8 more points along with the fact if we make 45% FGs that is 5 to 7 more points and we are not in a position where a missed call (they did miss the foot ) hurts. grow up we beat ourselves.

here you can see Brady verbally calling a timeout...
as well motioning with his hand for a timeout.
does not mean that the official can see it looks to me like murphys shoulder is blocking his view. bradys mouth is open how do you know he is not breathing hard?

Thank you. I believe I will look a little closer to determine if there is any reference from/to other sections or subsections.

I also intend to attempt to contact Mr Boyages to become enlightened as to the league's review of officials, contacts with known boosters, method of accountability, etc.
I also may attempt to contact the NCAA to determine various questions I have been curious about over the past few years.

Depending on lack of adequate responses I also may use some contacts to see if there is any interest in reviewing non compliance with tax laws.

I've been called a lot of things in my life.... some not so complimentary. Bottom line is I have a long fuse. But when it burns out I become a bit of a bulldog....not saying I believe in a conspiracy, just remember Robert Knight mentioning on more than one occasion that officials connections with gambling should be a priority in the process, that he believed it would.... not may...resolve a lot of problems.
you have got to be kidding.

... just because you like to point all things Iowa did or does wrong...and at the same time ignore the come back...ignore the mid court traps that created Minny turnovers....doesn't make you any smarter than anyone else.

I fully understand your MO..but calling another poster not very bright is uncalled.
ignore the comeback ? where is that coming from? believe me i am just as big a hawk as any of you.i enjoyed the game . did the missed foot out of bounce make me happy ? hell no. but i reffed high school Bball for 22 years i know how hard it is to be in perfect position all the time, not going to happen. the bottom line is we did have 18 TOs, we did shoot only 40% FGs , they the team put themselves in a position where a missed call hurt us.

Umm It gave the ball back to Minnesota and they were able to tie it up. If the officials are in place, we get the TO and at least have a shot. Instead the officials took it away from Iowa.

We also missed some FT's, but that is such a lame @ss excuse. When its under 1 minute and you have the ball "taken" away from you by the refs, that does cost you a game.
didnt we plat 2 over times , i thought we still had a chance to win?

you remind me of someone a long long time ago.....the man would yell at the radio anytime one of our players would screw up...would yell at Ralph Miller 'you're an idiot'...he would never point out anytime we did well..silent.

Our family had some of the 1970 Big10 Champions over for supper one night (after the season had ended)...the man melted. He was pretty tough when he could yell at the radio (sometimes TV) ... but not so much when face to face. He made watching the few games on TV miserable.

you point out the TO's...now you add in the FG%...not a word on the comeback...not a word on the turnovers our mid court trap created. Silent.

So ya those poor refs can sure get out of position ... but hey it doesn't matter when you turn the ball over 18 times in 50 minutes..ya those poor refs. The bottom line ... ya those damn 18 turnovers.

this exact moment is when Brady is saying "Out"... after saying "Time"
this is the Out part of TimeOut
you can look at the video to confirm...

also notice his hands are signaling Timeout...

and notice where the defenders feet are... he still has yet to maneuver himself out of bounds before he lunges for the ball.

I don't believe that ref should be fired... I believe he should be put in prison.

this is a clear indication of Fraud...
this is a violation against all those who play the game... and all those who watch the game.

and it is precisely the reason why I no longer attend games in person.

The official didn't "blow" the call. The stills above, which are pretty bad, aren't as bad as the video. Play it from that point forward. The official is approaching the play, with his view improving in literally tenths of seconds. He was looking directly at the play.

No one else in the world gets to excuse an "error" of that magnitude in job performance by claiming not to have seen something that video and photographic evidence shows they are, in fact, seeing. "Judge, I just didn't see the red light. The dash cam shows it was red but I did not see it" won't take you far in court. Or try that fable on the boss when you plow the company truck into another vehicle's rear end?

He's a command officer in a huge police force; so here's a better question, what kind of police force does Pittsburgh field?

I hate when people don't put shit into context and just repeat what their dumbass elementary school basketball coach told them. Brady wanted to shoot those free throws. He's going to hold the ball until they foul him and he obviously knew he had a timeout in his back pocket just in case he got in trouble. We're not talking about a ****ing press break here.

thanks for understanding that TOS were probably the problem.

should of been thinking that

wow this proves my point exactly, can you see bradys face? nope. can you see his hands? nope . and murphy might have the ball already tied up and regardless of what you all think the ref is in position.

You are a piece of work. This vantage point is from Bob Ueker seats and proves nothing. This thing has been hashed and rehashed and nobody's opinion has been changed....we know your position and you know ours.... that we got bent over. Now, "the secret to getting things done is to act". Be gone with you, thorn in my side

When you're burning clock with a plan to call timeout when challenged and the other option is dribbling between two defenders, it makes sense. You have to consider the context and plan.

That ref was not in bad position and was even working to get in better position. Remember, when the play started everyone was moving the direction but Brady did the opposite and the ref reacted. The rest of the hawks did not do a good job of getting in front of a ref to call it either. Do I think they got the end call incorrect, yes, but I don't think ref position is that bad. The trail official was and should have been on the end line.

You can't have it both ways, Iowa.

You can't claim both of the following:
- The ref was out of position
- The ref missed calling the obvious timeout

One or the other. Which is it?

My take is that yes, the ref was out of position...but again, he was expecting the ball to move *upcourt*. But for some reason Iowa decided to pass backwards and then dribble into the corner. Now he's out of position. Oops.

If he's out of position, he can neither hear nor see the timeout call.

And regarding how come you can hear it on TV...it's called a parabolic microphone. The ref himself is not parabolic. Look it up.
