So you are saying a jump ball should have been given even though you admit the official could not see the tie up. Again no confirmation of a tie up, three players signaling for a time out and you as an official do what? Guess? A liberal interpitation of the rules during the last two minutes of a game does allow for review in the case of a change of position. You think it might have been wise to try and get it right. Since you have looked at this over and over you will have noiced that the officials did not even confer...try to determine who might have actually been in position to see what took place......but they made the call they were looking for. Sort of like the rebounding call, like the two charging calls. If you really want to review the game film watch and follow what happens to peter on almost every play. Once again, your words, officials shouldn't just watch the ball!i cant just give a time out because a player is signaling for one. i have to find out where the ball is and what is going on with the ball. sorry dude nobody asked for a time out till it looked like the ball was going to be tied up.
So while we are screaming TIMEOUT!!! This is the reason the ref ran 5 more steps to get in position to see if it indeed was tied up! He isn't gonna give up fellas so......................TIMEOUT!!!! End of thread.
