Andre wooldridge. Im sure most Hawk fans remember the 2nd rd game against Kentucky in 97...Andre and his band of misfits went toe to toe with the NCAA runner ups and future NBA players.. They lost by 6 but played with toughness and left it all out on the court.. such a contrast from todays 2nd rd loss. It goes to show how important a good PG is..

Maybe. But it's close IMO. Was Strickland all Big 12? Multiple years? Serious question. I remember him being pretty good and I know he played in the NBA for a little while.

Yea it's close hated losing Woolridge, Née didn't give him enough playing time because we had another point guard ( can't remember his name) his Freshman and Sophomore year but we had Jarone Boone, Strickland along with Woolridge would have been interesting in Andre would have stayed......

Anyway Strickland was the better shooter and penetrator to the basketball and he also lead the team in steals, he was the better all around athlete and that is why he also made the NBA.

Looked up Strickland. Big 12 freshman of the year, thats about it... Andre should have won POY but lost out to Bobby Jackson.. Andre carried his team to 2nd place in Big 10 that year. Strickland was decent but ill take Andre.

Granted but who played in the NBA?

Isn't this a college board.

Wasn't Tommie Frazier a better college quarterback than Kordell Stewart? By your logic because Kordell played in NFL he was better college player ?

Than again "Apples to Oranges"

So Kirk Ferentz is a better coach than Osborne because he coached in NFL..

What ever makes you feel better. didn't know Ferentz was Head Coach in the NFL:rolleyes:

One-on one or a game of horse shooting Strickland and twice on Sunday's.

Kind of sad your only march madness discussion is being held on a Iowa board. Nebraska can build all the great facilities with beautiful locker rooms but it wont matter. They always have and always will be irrelevant in college b-ball

That Iowa team with Woolridge was underseeded at an 8. I remember watching Iowa/Virginia in the first round in the 8/9 game. It was a late game and they took it off the air because Iowa got up on Virginia so bad. That was when the tournament was only on CBS and you got one "regional" game.

I remember that game, I thought Iowa was going to win that game against the blue-blood.

Actually it was Bob Boozer, Omaha Central, K-State all American, NBA 7 years.

I admit I forgot about Boozer and Boone didn't see them play in college.

And McGee was all Big 10 at Michigan should have thought of him played against him in High school and went to basketball camp with him which I mentioned in the previous post.

I had the good fortune to run a few games with Andre in the Field House back in the day. You'd see him there on the legendary middle court pretty frequently. I was a skinny high school boy and usually not good enough to run on that court, unless it was an off-peak time late at night or something.

Andre was a blast to play with or against. He'd spend the majority of the game driving and passing out to set you up for wide open jumpers. Make one or two and he'd keep setting you up. Then if it got to crunch time, say his team was down 13-8 or whatever, he'd simply take over and score 7 straight to hold court.

Cue up to the 42 minute mark.

Strickland was good no doubt but hard to say Andre wasnt as good or better. If the NBA would have evolved to what it is now he probably would have had a long career.
