The NWCA and/or NCAA has done such a spectacular job of marketing and informing its fans that nobody even really knows.

PSU has theirs listed as the "dual championship series"

Iowa sent season tic holders a parking pass for its dual but that is the only info I have seen for Iowa.

Top 8 big ten teams in the coaches rankings will host a dual at home. They will face the highest ranked dual champs of the 7 other conferences and 1 wildcard. As of now it looks like PSU vs NC State and Iowa vs OkState again. Michigan looks to have Lehigh and tOSU has Vtech(wildcard). Nebraska has Oregon state and Rutgers has the Cmu/Kent state winner. Finally, Illinois would have Pitt and Indiana would have Appalachian State. This is based off the latest intermat dual ranking which are usually really close to the coaches rankings.

That is it. It isn't a tournament. It's kind of like a bowl game.....

NC State has a tough road ahead of them in their dual schedule. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop one (probably to Missouri). I'm predicting we will end up with PSU vs Okie State and then Iowa vs Missouri. I wouldn't mind that one bit.

I still have a hard time keeping Missouri in the MAC. As a result I messed up thinking the winner of Kent state and CMU would be in. Theoretically they could if Missouri lost to Old Dominion and Northern Illinois, but that isn't happening. Also, App State just lost to George Mason so that would change as well.
If Missouri does beat NC State, fans would probably benefit the most. Okie State and PSU would be a great dual. Iowa vs. Missouri(especially after last season) would be compelling and Mich. vs. NC State would give us matches like Gantt vs. Murphy and Gwiz vs Clark. Then you get tOSU vs Lehigh, Neb. Vs. Vtech, Rutgers vs. Oregon State, Illinois vs. Pitt. And it now looks like Indiana vs. George Mason.

Definitely not what anyone would consider National Duals Championship but it at least gives us a chance to see some very good matchup a!

Sadly I'd rather have Iowa not wrestle in this event and get ready for the real main event in New York
I feel the same way about OSU competing in this joke of a tournament. We have wrestled Iowa already, you won, we're getting ready for Nationals. Even if it's PSU, we are peaking, time to get rid of Dual Championship. Ask Minnesota how people remember them during there run, all other non Minnesota fans remember them as choking at Nationals during those years. Sorry jammenz. I rest my case.

I would really prefer Iowa to wrestle someone they don't normally see on the schedule. Doesn't make sense to me if they wrestle Okie State again in this format.
I'm sure that's true for most. But, if you have a true National Duals, Iowa has typically always had to face someone like Okie State or Minnesota if they kept winning, and some years potentially both, so it really isn't different in that regard.

It was a damn good format when they had it under one roof, all Divisions, at the UNI Dome. But NOooooo, couldn't keep that going, too many good matchups and people attending.

That is the same way I view OkSU the last ten years, fail to get it done at nationals.

I'll bite my tongue, and just be nice since I'm just a guest, ih8iast8 has very little knowledge of wrestling. What's with that retarded name you have, you couldn't think of a better one than that?

Forgive me for being stupid ok.
So Hawks get first dual at home if they win where do they do the 2nd one??

No 2nd dual for anyone. This is no longer a tournament, but simply one dual in a format similar to the old BCS bowl series in college football. Match up the teams, have one competition and be done with it.

Ok thank you. Boy they get more stupid with this event every year makes no sense at least to me.

I agree. At least with prior changes you could say they were trying something to see if it would work, but this one is just a whole lot of nothing.

When did they stop that?

Like the prior poster said, it's almost like they're trying to make it fail.

I thought I read somewhere that when this first came out Sanderson was involved in the brainstorming that created this event. At the very least, I know he was a proponent of it. Basically, it is another event for the B1G schools to host and bring in fans. Sanderson(even Brands) was not a big fan of the National Duals format and was more into a way to get another home dual event....................

artradley,

Several big name coaches( namely Smith and Sanderson) took umbrage with the location always being in Iowa and simply stopped going. Then the NWCA tried to come up with a way to make The National Duals more relevant and went for the Tournament format we had a couple of years ago. That inevitably was destroyed because the goal was to make it THE way to decide the True Team Champions. Now they are grasping at straws just to keep some form of it going until they can regroup and try to make it relevant again.....................

I'm pretty sure that Illinois has elected not to participate in this event so you can leave them out of any scenarios/predictions for a possible dual matchup!

Hawks150,

It's pretty much speculation at this point because we really don't know how many won't accept the invite. For now I solely based it on rankings and results. All the non b1g teams have to do the traveling so who knows what they will decide.

MSU158

I'm pretty sure that Coach Heffernan has stated publicly before this season that Illinois will not be participating - invite or no invite! I could be wrong and not sure where I read this information!

if it is iowa v okst - iowa should just wrestle all the backups - except guys like Stoll that might be able to improve on the NC place

otherwise - iowa has no reason to participate - unless there is a pot of gold

Nope, you are here every year talking shit, & every year in the last few years OkSU has been a non-factor in the team race. Just stating the truth.

& because I know reading comprehension is something you struggle with, I am well aware of OkSU's impressive legacy in wrestling. That doesn't include the last ten years, & why I qualified my original statement.
