This game was Gatens scout

Didn’t he have the Iowa St scout too? This wasn’t on him. When you let a team ranked 356 get 11 dunks on you that’s all about effort and not mentally being in the game. Iowa has enough upperclassmen that could’ve/should’ve provided leadership to gut out a win. They did not and they got what they deserved.

There isn't much excuse for Patrick, Sandfort and Ulis going a combined 10 - 39 and just 3-24 from 3. Patrick is still way too inconsistent of a player. Sandfort shouldn't be playing much if any. He is terrible on D. If his shots aren't falling he isnt a power conference basketball player. Ulis has a very low offensive ceiling. Way too low to be getting the minutes he gets.

Think the issue with having no transfers is we didn’t have swarm set up in time.
Now it is. I’d expect a transfer a year moving forward minimum unless we have year(s) where the roster is deep without glaring holes. That hasn’t been the case the last two years.

Fran tried. The transfers all wanted NIL and from what I’ve read our NIL that we had to offer was pretty lacking compared to other schools. So maybe the fans look like fools for not bringing in any transfers.
NIL isn't the main reason. Several programs out there bring in quality transfers without any or very little NIL. NIL is just becoming an excuse for Iowa fans.

It was Fran that ran his players into utter fatigue in 2h…

was It gatens scout plan that said let’s play our starters the entire 2H half without a break?

Ah, yes, blame the fans...
The game being moved up the few only people who might make it are the grey hairs retired. And they don't get noisy. This felt like a bad practice. All I can hope for is when red ass Connor and Kris come back we use this game as motivation to seal the deal in spite of a hell of a black mark. This has to be numbers wise the worst loss in Hawkeye basketball history. That said, the other 5 probably were under Lick so Fran can take this one and hopefully make something of it.

If you believe that the addition of Kris and Connor are going to make a difference between winning and losing at Nebraska, Penn St, Rutgers, Ohio St, Purdue, Michigan St, Wisconsin, Indiana, and yes Northwestern. Good Luck.
Will Iowa eek out a win at any of these road games, even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. It won't be enough to find it's way into the NCAA tournament.
Being 2 scholarships short of 13, having two scholarship 6-11 players that are basically walkon's and another 3 walkon's that get scrub minutes in blowouts. You get an Iowa team that is Fran's rendition of the 2017 Iowa team.
Iowa loses Kris, Filip, Connor and anyone else that what's to jump ship. Fran not filling scholarships with legitimate college basketball players that deserve playing time is on him and we as fans are the one's that have to watch these crappy games.

Agree. Eastern Illinois could have played out of their minds and Iowa could have played (hopefully) their worst game of the year but there were multiple EIU guys that would look on Iowa's roster.

Where is your link every transfer is earning substantial NIL money that Iowa can't seem to afford. Almost every B1G team brings in transfers to their basketball teams. But Iowa can't because of NIL?? ISU somehow has mountains of NIL money to bring 3-4 transfers in a year? How much did Rebraca earn??

Where is your punctuation?

About your punctuation? Refer to your post.

About NIL? You made the claim. That means you provide the receipts. I don’t make claims without evidence. You did. So I’m asking you for the evidence.
I made no such claims.

I agree. I mean if the three's aren't falling lets try to focus on scoring in the paint or with mid range shots. Sandfort is way too eager to fire up a three early in the shot clock and Patrick's perimeter shooting is still very inconsistent from game to game. i think his shot selection is often suspect. Our guard play has to be better. Tony shot pretty well today, but is inconsistent . Ulis and Bowen have to be able to shoot a decent percentage from the perimeter. And it is obvious that the team still hasn't made a comittment to playing tough defense every time out .

Didn't watch the game, but if they are "utterly" fatigued against this team, how are they going to roll when they have to play B10 teams??

Giving up easy dunks and fast breaks nothing new with Fran teams. This type of loss happens in the tournament too every time we go. Bad 3pt shooting and bad defense. I wish he would call more timeouts and give advice when things aren't going well. It just seems like Fran lacks the strategic mind to take us farther.

Where is your proof. You liked a post stating all the transfers Iowa was after want too much NIL money. You seem to be one of the fools that believe all the other B1G teams and ISU have mountains of NIL money and that's why they get all the transfers. Common sense says otherwise. Provide your proof.

Rutgers fan here. I can tell you that when Dembele committed to Iowa over Rutgers there were some fans that cried that it must be because of NIL.

I think NIL is becoming an easy boogeyman. Truth is most programs don't have anything close to a robust NIL machine especially for basketball. But it's become the easy thing to blame as a coping mechanism. Every school has fans that think all the other schools are paying players big money except them. I'd guess the reality, for basketball, is that there are a handful of schools like Miami that can offer huge deals but the difference between Iowa and Rutgers and Washington and Kansas State and Georgetown and Missouri (just to pick some random schools from varied geography) is basically non existent. You can find plenty of Michigan fans complaining about how they're not playing the NIL game, for example.

I think people forget that in the B1G I believe scholarships are still guaranteed for 4 yrs so it's not like Fran can just kick guys to the curb for better players.

No need to kick anyone to the curb. He's had his sons on the team for the past 7 years and he hasn't used his full complement of scholarships in some years anyway.
