Pretty sure Russia invaded Ukraine twice both times under Democrat presidents.

Putin was getting a better return with Trump. No reason to do anything to make Trump’s poll numbers go down. Ukraine could wait.

Trump was on Putin’s side in this invasion from the start. Trump didn’t say anything positive about Biden leading the charge in pulling together NATO Allie’s to support Ukraine.
Actually, you and the others trying to make this case look like pretzels right now. You'd be better off arguing that who the president of the US was at the time of the Crimea and Ukraine invasions had nothing to do with it.
Trying to argue "smart guy in office, so I'll invade" (x2), "dumb guy in office, we'll stay in Russia" just doesn't work...
I think Putin invaded when he did as he saw a Biden administration as one that would strengthen NATO relationships and realized it would only be more difficult with each month that went by.
Any decision that was made by Putin to invade Ukraine was primarily based on what would increase his power in Russia imo. A brief invasion, overthrow of the Ukrainian government, and taking of the land and resources would have strengthened his position internally.
Yes making NATO countries pay their actual share and up their own military readiness was terrible policy.
