This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

The last article I read said the current US spending on arms for UKR is about 3% of the annual defense spending total.

So an amazing bargain to degrade 1 of our 2 chief rivals without risking any American soldiers’ lives.

Far cheaper than the spending we had to do to win the Cold War. Ronnie would definitely approve.

And that’s a Patriot system with extremely “outdated” radar and computing power.

Imagine the Patriots with an upgraded LTAMDS system that was designed to handle hypersonic missiles.
I wouldn’t mind having that tested in Ukraine too, properly behind friendly territory lines…

When has the us ever spent that in a year?
Just askin.
The math made me scratch my head too a little bit. With that being said, the point is that Russia has shown its true colors and this was going to happen to other countries if Putin was not stopped. I’m not sure what the final bill will be. Let’s say $150B, and Russia can’t wage an offensive for another decade. That is the cheapest firewall I can imagine, with no U.S. troops killed.

We really need to build up a strategic reserve of these things in secure/hidden locations in case we are ever targeted in an attack on our infrastructure.
There is a crazy backlog/timeframe for big gear like this. I hope the Ukes can figure out protection for it.

"More than 20 warships, 35 aircraft and eight onshore units from 13 nations will take part in the Nato exercise Formidable Shield, which kicks off on May 8.

The exercise is aimed at training air and missile defence systems.

It comes as the Royal Navy yesterday scrambled a Type 23 frigate warship to follow the Russian armada lurking dangerously close to the UK.

As well as the warship, the RAF scrambled Poseidon P-8 maritime patrol aircraft alongside Norwegian and US allies to track the Russians."

Sounds like they are also attacking Kyiv and there is just the rumor that a bridge in the south connecting Ukraine and Romania has been hit.
