This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

Mistral is a short-range air defence (SHORAD) missile system that can be used from vehicles, surface ships, and helicopters, as well as in a portable configuration. When used in the MANPADS role the "Mistral" missile is transported in a transport and launch container (MPC) together with "friend or foe" interrogator, power source and tripod with its sighting devices. They are then to be operated by a pair of crew as commander and the shooter. There are also launch units that allow the missile to be fired from armoured vehicles, ships or helicopters (such as the Aérospatiale Gazelle, Denel Rooivalk, or Eurocopter Tiger). To defeat flares ejected from the rear of a targeted aircraft, proportional navigation using a gyro as a reference is adopted for Mistral, instead of the pursuit method in earlier IR-guided MANPADS. To further enhance the ECCM capability, the seeker of Mistral has a very narrow field of view to reject decoys and interference, the seeker can tilt in the range of +/− 38 degrees. On the launcher, the missile runs up the gyro in 2 seconds, and total reaction time is 5 seconds. The all-aspect two-color (2–4 and 3–5 μm) cooled IR-seeker of Mistral is developed by SAT (Societe Anonyme de Telecommunications), and the missile adopts both laser proximity and impact fuzes.-WIKI

A journal entry on lined paper recounts the execution of a Russian prisoner.

Caspar Grosse, a medic in an international volunteer unit in Ukraine, said he wrote this journal entry in October after a fellow soldier, known as Zeus, recounted executing a Russian prisoner.

In Ukraine, Killings of Surrendering Russians Divide an American-Led Unit
A German medic said he was so troubled that he confronted his commander. Others boasted about killings in a group chat.

Hours after a battle in eastern Ukraine in August, a wounded and unarmed Russian soldier crawled through a nearly destroyed trench, seeking help from his captors, a unit of international volunteers led by an American.

Caspar Grosse, a German medic in that unit, said he saw the soldier plead for medical attention in a mix of broken English and Russian. It was dusk. A team member looked for bandages.

That is when, Mr. Grosse said, a fellow soldier hobbled over and fired his weapon into the Russian soldier’s torso. He slumped, still breathing. Another soldier fired — “just shot him in the head,” Mr. Grosse recalled in an interview.

Mr. Grosse said he was so upset by the episode that he confronted his commander. He said he spoke to The New York Times after what he regarded as unwarranted killings continued. It is highly unusual for a soldier to speak publicly about battlefield conduct, particularly involving men whom he still considers friends.

But he said he was too troubled to keep silent.

The shooting of the unarmed, wounded Russian soldier is one of several killings that have unsettled the Chosen Company, one of the best-known units of international troops fighting on behalf of Ukraine.

So much winning. And an economy in shambles and most of wealthy nations on earth now hate Russia too. Brilliant move by Putler.
These numbers have been interesting. Seems like a lot of “vehicles” are being destroyed along with humans, and not as many APCs. I wonder if those are starting to become in short supply. I mean, if these numbers are close, they’ve lost 15,000 of them.

The front line nations get it. The Baltics, Poland and Romania get it. They are next.

I know it seems like people like me have been saying this of a long time, but this is not sustainable for Russia. It just isn't. Stuff is going to creak and moan under the strain, and break even more than that broke ass country is already experiencing. Someone is eventually going to whack Putin versus lose all of their money, or become Xi's bitch.
This is why Putin is investing in Western elections at a frenetic pace. Money and resources are being poured into Western election interference. We are seeing the effects here on HORT as the duller suspects post FSB misinformation and talking points.

I thought it sounded uncharacteristically stupid AF of Ukraine to store jets like that to be attacked en masse.
It's a war, and there are losses. The Ukrainians are at a disadvantage in just about every category in this war, so they have to be smarter. When some of these stories break it's important to look for follow up, and after this one there was a bit of a winky eye statement from a Ukrainian officer. Only Russian news sources and their amplifiers on HORT were celebrating the loss of Ukrainian jets.
