This might be a little tougher than Putin thought...

That's definitely a wrench in the "off ramp". Putin keeping those lands in unacceptable.

You keep Crimea and leave everywhere else is about all the US/NATO could offer at this point and Putin probably doesn't accept let alone Ukraine.

There have to be alarm bells going off in Kiev right now. It's one thing for Macron or Schultz talking about an off-ramp...totally new ball game with Biden saying it.

Zelensky is going to be pushing his forces to hit the accelerator and get as much land back as fast as they can because it's looking like there's a clock on Western support.
No, you don't "keep Crimea".

You lose wars, you lose shit you took illegally years ago.
You concede and you pay reparations. Or you are completely annihilated.

If Putin wants a Russian base in Crimea, he can do what the US does: negotiate and pay for it.
But Ukraine isn't going to negotiate, anymore, after his invasion and destruction of their cities. He's done.

Only card they really have is the Nuke card. It’s an unfortunately large card.
I don’t see Crimea remaining under Russian control at this point. Putin continues to saber rattle with Nukes. That will not stop the inevitable.
Even if Ivan does toss some tacticals or more, that will not stop the inevitable, but rather bring forth Bigger Dogs of War.

BTW, I am not minimizing what Nukes would mean. Not in any way. We had yellow signs identifying shelters in my childhood and teachers telling us from time to time how to hide from windows in case of attack.

The gasoline powered automobile will NEVER replace a reliable horse and buggy. There's nowhere to fill up your tanks yet. They have short range and break down repeatedly...

What energy source powers those chargers?
You've displayed your daftness ad nauseam, but even for you, this is weak.

When was the last coal or nuclear power plant built? To answer your question, when EVs become the majority of vehicles the chargers will mostly be powered be renewable electric sources.

AGAIN: US has enough wind capacity for all of it.
Had that infrastructure been worked on since the 1990s, you'd be running 100% on clean energy here.

Problem is that the Saudis, Exxon, Russia etc hold tens of trillions in "stranded assets" when that happens. They will easily spend hundreds of billions to maintain a 100:1 to 1000:1 ROI in protecting those assets.

While I share this sentiment, it may be best to let the trolls a way out. Hopefully the exiting traffic will be non-stop until the end of this little dust up. But wait, will there be enough fuel for evacuation? The orcs will prolly confiscate all remaining supplies (to be sold to highest bidders).
If they do finish it, wait for more military gear or trains to be in transit.
They can walk that in half a day.

“President Biden's language -- we're about at the top of the language scale, if you will. And I think we need to back off that a little bit and do everything we possibly can to try to get to the table to resolve this thing,” Mullen told This Week co-anchor Martha Raddatz.

Weird

"Tough talk" like this was cheered on incessantly between 2016 and 2020...
