Thursday Night Games Thread

Leidner can potentially fix a broken play when his foot is healthy. These guys are going to be tough on the road.

He can fix the broken plays, but the way that it is looking tonight, I don't think that he will be able to stay healthy this year. He still stares down receivers left and right, so he has to bail them out with his legs, but we know that as the season goes on, those hits start to add up.

Iowa lost to one of the worst teams Minnesota has ever assembled (and that is clearly saying something), with an interim Head Coach. I think it's safe to say when Kirk takes a team there, chances are pretty good it's going to be 'tough". There or Ames.. two of the toughest places to play in the U.S.A..................................

Unless the Gophers get things sorted out, I'm not too worried about an offense that has half as many yards as Oregon State.
I think our offense is good enough to run it up on a sharp day against Minnesota if our D can get off the field quicker.

We've also dominated in Minneapolis against better Gopher teams under Ferentz. It's a weird series.

Lol at Gophers coach going for two there. Could've been a pick six as well and then it would've been a 5 point game.

They wanted to show everyone how aggressive they could be (not joking). If they get the 2, then they're up by 9. If they fail...still up by a TD.

And unfortunately as I suspected, Oregon State's offense did jack shit (and really did nothing for most of the 2nd half save for taking advantage of the muffed punt.)

Lots of wasted opportunities out there by underdog teams tonight. Oh well.

I would love Oregon State to win. Beaver fans here in Corvallis are feeling a little more excited than last year and are hoping for a bowl game. Most expect a 5-7 win season. This game is pretty big to me as my fiancee is now enrolled at OSU for grad school, and I hate the gophers. Go (shaved) BEAVS!
why would you root against ANY b1g team in non confernce play? ?

Minnesota looked just like I expected. Offense has issues, Leidner still inconsistent, defense has some good players but plays dirty.

Celebrating way too hard for a win over Appalachian State.
Why? In the adrenaline of a game, fighting tooth and nail against a live opponent for the first time in months, and they come out on top in a dramatic game. Saved themselves an embarassing loss. How should Iowa have celebrated beating UNI? I don't know about you, but that was thrilling to win in such a fashion, even though it made me really worried about our team's quality.

And remember, lads, it's week 1. Enjoy the thrills but don't read too much into things.
