Tickets Prices Dropping A Bit

Based on all of the prior chatter around the cut line for season ticket holders being 150 points (and ending up at 31), you have to wonder if there will be a lot of Hawk fans who had secured tickets on the secondary market thinking they wouldn't get any from the university that will now be trying to resell them. Next 24 hours will likely tell the story there.

Just got a major wrinkle in my New Years plans. Was offered two tickets to the Rose Bowl at face value. Now my wife and I are trying to figure out if we can afford the flights and hotel. Not a bad problem to have but still perplexing.

Look into flying to Palm Springs. Not sure what it is now, But I saved about $700 on 2 flights yesterday instead of going into LAX. That was departing from Madison, so not even a major airport. Car rental was about half the price too

Tickets have really dropped this week. Down to $350. Bet we see below $300 next week.

I looked yesterday and just now. Saw them drop another $50. Saw some tickets listed at $327 before processing fees.

Update: Now showing them as low as $294

qutie a few for $320 out there now, meaning the listers are pocketing under $300 (maybe around $275???)

i gotta think that the stanford fan base picked up a lot of tickets just to sell. they've been to a few rose bowls recently and probably not to excited to play iowa (if they watched espn all season, then they probably think iowa isn't 'sexy' enough, if they've heard anything about us at all)

2 on stubhub right now for $187 a piece. Dropping fast.

This is a great relief for people like me who booked everything without tickets! Just got 6 for my group (4 together and 2 together). Ready for Pasadena!

Yeah, they're dropping all right. I wish I would have waited a little longer because I thought they'd go down some. Paid $350 per but I'm fine with that as it was from someone back home and reasonable at the time.

Spotted a single at $280, I shoulda waited longer to buy but when I saw $350 I was done waiting and jumped on them.

prices looking a bit better. now its more about how much you might want to upspend for better seats.

Lots of tickets hitting the market. Airfare and hotels are ridiculous. Look for more movement down in price..especially the end zones and nosebleed sections.

Many tix at face value at this point. I already purchased, not at the peak of the market, but wish I had waited as well. We may see a fire sale!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm going to the ROSE BOWL!!!! Found a non-stop ticket out of New Orleans (live in Baton Rouge) for $490, hotel in Studio City for $140 a night and now game tickets for $200. This trip just got very reasonable all at once. Everything was double last week.

If I could have found a deal like that I would be going too. That's awesome.

My tickets are $300 less than what I bought them for on the day of the announcement. They jumped $300 shortly after I bought them so thought I had gotten a good deal. Oh well.

The deals right now are in the Stanford sections. 200 less per seat on avg for sidelines and 50-100 less in corners. Hawk fans are buying hawk section tickets as soon as they drop under 250 but Stanford sections tickets aren't moving real well.

Economists would love to do some data collection and analysis on this.

Not that complicated, happens every year. There is a time sensitive bubble in ticket value.

Talked with a SoCal guy that claimed to have scalped on game day at 30 rose bowls without ever paying face. Seemed credible, makes some sense.

20-60,000 Midwesterners go to the Rose Bowl. Ticket price is just one piece of the whole decision/cost/experience. Some (many? most? see examples in this thread) (perhaps reasonably, depends on your risk tolerance) just aren't willing to pull the trigger on going without ticket arrangements. So many when pulling the trigger opt for packages or locking tickets the same time as locking logistics.

Call it a peace of mind dividend.

Which sections are Stanford?

The people who waited a bit are now realizing they can make the trip at a fairly affordable price. I am taking my 16 year old and not really spending a fortune.

Tickets at face.

Fly Minneapolis to Vegas at flexible dates.

Airbnb for cheap but good places to stay.

I'm probably not going to be much over $2500 total, and that includes a day at universal studios and a couple shows in Vegas before the flight back.

Oh yeah, staying on the beach in Santa Monica.

I haven't looked what they're going for now. But I've got a couple in Iowa endzone section. I ended up with two extras after some friends couldn't afford to make the trip. Am I crazy in just trying to get my money back out of these? Didn't think it'd be hard to sell them at face...

^id let those go for what anyone is willing to pay. Or just hang on to them for the extra room. I believe those seats are bleacher seats

The nosebleed seats and the obstructed views from the lower level are starting to go cheap. Good seats still bring a premium, which makes perfect sense considering the costs associated with getting there and being there.

I have 2 tickets next to my 2 that are behind the Iowa bench , 33 rows up section 18, on about the 42 yard line.
$400 each cash, firm , in Iowa City. Friends backed out last night.

They just hit $150 on Stubhub. I would definitely wait if I was buying they are going to continue to drop.

A lot of people bought with plans to scalp and missed the bubble.

I was able to get rid of the two extras I got stuck with. Face value. Considering what you all are saying, I feel fortunate not to get stuck eating some of the $$$

Although I did get around 6 inquiries in about 15 hours. So maybe there are a number of buyers out there still.

I was able to sell my 4 end zone seats at face value in about 5 minutes. There are still plenty of people looking for tickets.

Right now on Stubhub they have a pair in section 12 (that's an Iowa section) for $120 each. Factor in the taxes/fees and it's $145. That is less than face value!
