Some interesting discussion about a huge equipment advantage Tiger had during his phenomenal 2000 PGA season, which may have been the best in tour history. He played that season using a new ball that Nike had developed, the Tour Advantage. It was one of the first solid core balls. He used it throughout the season; at the very end of the season Titleist released the ProV1, & about all of their tour players immediately switched to it from the old, balata-cover wound Titleist.
Graeme McDowell talked about it a bit yesterday. Of course, even though he made it clear that he considers Tiger the greatest ever, he got some backlash from people interpreting his comments as disrespectful. They certainly weren't - if you don't grasp the massive advantage Tiger had playing that ball compared to what was being used by others on tour, then you simply don't understand golf.

Another OP who doesn’t follow the rules around here. Must I do everything?

If you read that article you'd know solid core balls existed prior to 2000. Mark O'Meara used a solid core ball in 1998 & Paul Lawrie in 1999. It was out there for players to use.

While true that solid core balls were out there, the TopFlite Strata (which is what those two used) was not even remotely close to the performance of the ProV1 when it came out.
