Time & the AP misled on Trump's immigration policies. We need strong media, not fumbles like this

Oh, bullshit. That image was symbolism. Symbolism for the cruelty of kidnapping children and shipping them off to who knows where without documentation with no plan or intention of re-uniting them with their parents. Symbolism because the Orange Turd was not actually there looking down at the child, was he? You have the same grade school mentality as your child ruler.

Why are you trying so hard to defend this process? You must approve of it. Heartless bastards.

Protip: a photo is not "misleading on policies"

The policies were correctly called out. Trump backed down on HIS policies. So, let's take a step back if we're "calling out" one photo implied to be a separation, which may not have been, when separations WERE the NEW POLICY, and WERE explicitly endorsed by several of his Cabinet.

Joe, the article published on USATODAY.com is correct. I don't need any "pro tips." Time misled the public on what was going on in that picture. The AP misled the public in its story as well. I know there is no way you want to agree with that but it is the truth. You can spin things anyway you want but you can't escape the truth.

The photo was misleading and Time had to correct the story, stating that rather than being carted off by border agents, “her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.”

The photo would have been much more effective if the truth had been told in the first place.

You still haven't answered my question. Are you saying that children have not been taken from their parents?

Because you are intentionally missing the point of the article just so you don't have to face the fact that you support policies that are specifically listed as war crimes by the Geneva Convention.

No. It is not.

One of Obama's officials very clearly stated what the policy was, and did not backtrack claiming children were NEVER separated, but simply asserted it WAS NOT POLICY.

Under the current administration, they ADMITTED IT WAS POLICY, then DENIED IT WAS OCCURING, then TRIED TO BLAME DEMOCRATS FOR LAWS, then FINALLY DISBANDED THE POLICY.

Stop defending it.

They are specifically defined as "genocide" per UN guidelines, which the USA helped to author.

Even worse, THIS administration DIDN'T EVEN TRACK who was separated, to ENSURE the children would be returned before deportation. That is f**cking INEXCUSABLE.

All they had to do was FINGERPRINT parents and children. DOCUMENT at the time of apprehension. It was SIMPLE. BUT THEY DID NOT DO IT AS A DETERRENT.

My GOP Senator has heard from me 3 times on this issue. I have received only 'canned' responses, to date, when usually I actually get a rep sending a real response. They are HIDING because they know they f**ked up.

Who are you falsely accusing when you say "you must approve of it." You seem no better than Fox News in your false claims. Imagine that; you are Fox News' equal. Congrats on that!

Ironic, too, how you call someone an "orange turd" and then turn around and accuse others of grade school mentalities.

You, sir, are quite clearly a hypocrite.

So what is incorrect with the article? Time did not mislead? The AP did not mislead? Anything else? Please tell us so that we can contact USA TODAY and demand that they make corrections to that article!!

And what the Trumpanzees fail to recognize, is how EXPENSIVE the present policies are - paying PRIVATE detention facilities billions to house people for frigging misdemeanors, because Trump refuses to ramp up deportation processes BEFORE implementing the policies.

Huge.money.grab

While we gashed tax revenues
And are now pushing $1T PER QUARTER deficits.

Things are gonna get ugly, financially, and we will have the GOP to thank for it.

So what is incorrect with the article? Time did not mislead? The AP did not mislead?

Not with respect to the actual policies. But if you want to argue a single photo is "misleading", go for it. It doesn't alter the reality here. Nor the statements made by Sessions or Kelly.

I think its pretty clear that 2,000 kids were separated from their parents. Can you tell me why you are lying by saying I support the child separation policy?

I simply posted word for word the article posted on USA TODAY. And I agree that both Time and AP misled the public. And is that what the press should be doing? Misleading the public? And that is what Fox News is accused of. You are intentionally missing that point!

Did that actually happen when Obama was president? Couldn't he have changed it with a stroke of a pen?

We have a law defining illegal immigrants, immigration, and we have a law determining how those people are to be dealt with and punished. The only thing new that is happening in this country that hasn’t happened in the last 20 years is the law’s being enforced. That’s it. There aren’t any new ones.

I am simply trying to stay on point; this is about the media misleading the public.

Why are you ignoring the AP story documented in the orig post? Talk about misleading the public.

Fox News is accused all the time of misleading the public.

This article makes it quite clear that Time and the AP misled the public.

And guess what? That feeds the #fakenews movement and as I stated in the orig post, it lathers up the Trump base as a result.

This is common deflection from the very far left on this board. It is common with the very far right as well. They all have a very hard time staying on topic. It gets to the point where it is just comical and you have to take a break from the political bullshit on here.

thank you.

yeah, its crazy; the topic is the media and when the media misleads, it leads to the #fakenews cries. The topic in this thread is not Trump's policy (you can go to other threads for that).

Oh, now your falling back on the 'ole, "I don't actually BELIEVE these things, I'm just trying to start a 'conversation'" bullshit. I am not lying, you keep defending the policy by intentionally missing the point of the Time Magazine article. Or maybe you aren't being manipulative. Maybe you really are just too dumb to understand how you are being manipulated.

USA Today ran a right wing propaganda piece full of misleading information and outright falsehoods and you've bitten into it hook, line, and sinker. I mean, do you really think Time Magazine is trying to make you think that Trump stood in front of a crying child like that? It's called symbolism and magazines have been using that as long as their have been magazines.

Yes, you are lying. Everybody (Republican, Democrat, Independent) can see it.

And the third word in your post? It's "you're," not "your." You can't even get that right.

Question is, can you get anything right?

You are not an independent. I mean, maybe you are technically, but have you ever actually cast a vote for a Dem? Just curious.

Here we go again, getting off topic and accusations being tossed out.

Yes, I have voted for a Dem, and sometimes I have to hold my nose to do so. The Dems are too far left and the Repubs too far right, as I stated in the orig post.

"Everybody can see it". I remember when I used to use that as a substantive argument in a debate. I was 9. Yours ( )has the same level of maturity. Prove me wrong with evidence or STFU.

You are extremely poor at "arguing." You can't stay on topic. There is no "substance" in your posts. And you were caught lying in this thread. It is time for you to STFU.

What's ironic is Trump lies all the time and with your lies in this thread you have been proven to be no better than him. You are a hypocrite, too.

You are defending the whole process. How else would I interpret it? I'm not grade school intellectually to call this piece of shit an Orange Turd. He is the worst human being I have ever witnessed to attain the position he has. The world would be better off if he were not in it, and I have not felt that way about anyone else in my lifetime. He ruined many lives before the ran for President and the majority of the press, including conservative press issued warnings. He displayed immaturity and lack of character campaigning. His celebrity combined with the total press's obsession with his novelty propelled him to election. It is a sad chapter in our history, and it's not over yet.

Who said I am ok with ANY news outlet misleading anyone? Why would you say that I am "good with them doing that?"

Why are you making stuff up? Ironically, you say Fox News makes stuff up but it is YOU, when making stuff up, who sound just like Fox News!
Maybe if you spent equal time providing specific examples of the other side misleading the public someone might believe you are independent. I don't scour these boards, but the few instances I have seen from you have only been critical of one side.

By the way, when someone feels obligated to start a post by declaring their independence, it is a good hint that the post will be one-sided.

Fox News misleads evey hour of every day, but I guess you're good with them doing that.

When I watch them I understand their mission and expect their deliberate deception.
So Fox News misleads because it doesn't fit your agenda. Got it!

They will be reunited with their parents in due time.....

O.K. We'll see. If you are right, they categorized each child each step of the process and documented them throughout. If they didn't they can't. If they can't what will your opinion be then?

I simply posted word for word the article posted on USA TODAY. And I agree that both Time and AP misled the public.

Time used a photo in a misleading manner. Thread title claims a "policy" was being misleadingly reported on. A policy which Trump, Kelly, Sessions and others all announced and supported. Until it was factually reported on. Then they backtracked on it.

I see no point in taking a position on something that hasn't happened,... We'll see.

And if the media (Time, the AP) would not mislead the public in their coverage, then Trump would not be able to respond with his #fakenews claim.

And that's the whole point of the original post.

I don't need to use profanity and I don't need to wish someone dead to make my point, either.

And the point of the OP is that the media needs to report the news, not make careless mistakes whre they become part of the news and part of the #fakenews narrative.

When Time and the AP misled, they became part of of the news and that's what Trump wants. He doesn't want us to trust the Fake News Media.

The point I was making was the Time cover was not erroneous. It was symbolism. If you don't use profanity, I don't give a shit. Your world is very narrow.

I simply posted an article published today from USA TODAY. I did not see an article discussing "the other side."

Is the article one sided to you? Is it not factual? If so, in what way? Please tell us.

Are you unable to see the point of the orig post? If the media misleads, it leads into the #fakenews narrative. Why is that so hard for you far lefties to see that?

It's pretty obvious you are extremely far left and that there are no middle of the ground people left in DC or on HROT. And that is a scary fact.

And whats even scarier is that far lefties like @cigaretteman , @Joes Place and @ft254 blindly like posts that are far left. That is cult like behavior because suddenly these posters cannot think for themselves; instead, they simply click the "like" button like a left wing robot.
