Time to burn it down and start over

I can’t speak for OP, but my interpretation when this term is used is the same as “clean house” - get rid of everyone involved with coaching/managing the football team and replace them with people who have no previous association.
If so, that is a childish approach taken by simpletons.

Really? The equipment manager? The truck driver?

Anyone who advocates for this is not a serious person.

If Iowa can truly re-establish itself as the The Bullies of Big Ten - a mistake free, disciplined, tougher that you team, built for the modern era of college football, I'd be happy. Right now, it's a slogan, a reputation, but it hasn't been lived up to, at least not on a consistent basis. I still hear announcers calling games describing Iowa in that way, but I ask myself, are they really that way, because it's not what I regularly see going on out there. I don't think to "burn it down and start over" is the answer, as I think Iowa would be chasing its tail every 5 years or so. They have an identity. But it isn't being realized. Whoever becomes the new coach, whenever that happens, that is the key to Iowa's success in my judgment.

So you make major program personnel decisions based upon 1 season out of 26 years of data?

Just stop
Please point out where I have called for people to be fired, or to make “major” personnel decisions. Thanks in advance.

You better be ready to replace the failed S&C and OL Coach first no matter who the HC is, 2 failed areas of Iowa football

The "Bullies of the Big Ten" moniker hasn't been relevant since maybe 2015 at the latest, probably closer to 2010. I seem to remember several years of getting pushed around at the LOS - yes, even when you-know-who was still drilling his soldiers.

Seeing as how college football no longer revolves around playing solid defense-focused football, and in fact has evolved to just the opposite in what players are coached in HS and how many rules now favor the offense, in my opinion an up-tempo, offense-first program would be refreshing.

I'd venture to guess that when fans say "burn it to the ground"... They mean "hire a new coach that isn't so damn conservative with the offense and QBs".

Hiring a new Head Coach is a major program change... Sure you'd love to keep some of the quality assistants, but that's ENTIRELY up to the new head coach and the assistants. Typically the new head coach wants to bring in "his guys".

Doesn't mean that we can't or shouldn't find a new head coach that wants to run pro style offense with TE usage. Definitely don't want to be like Wisconsin and go with a air raid type philosophy change.

That's what the thread is about and your contribution was to post, "6-4".

Guess I was just connecting the dots.

You're welcome

Rather than just making things up and connecting imaginary dots, try making your response germaine to the post you are responding to. 🤡

How should I have responded to you posting, "6-4"? That would seem to have been the random post to me

Why did you feel the need to respond at all? Are you expecting a response every time YOU post the team’s record or “run the ball” (which you do quite frequently I might add….talk about random)? If so, what responses are you looking for?

Because you posted it in response to a post of mine, you clown. You were the one who chose to involve me in your post.

I'm not pasting someone else's post when I post the team's record.

As for "run the ball", that is never random. To me, "run the ball" is the answer to about every football conversation that's ever existed

7-5 8-4 are you kidding 5-7 will be good in the coming decade
This little program will not be able to compete with the new conference money teams
OSU, Oregon, USC, PennSt, Michigan, have big $$$$$ and are using it
lol, we will do better than your fuskers.

It is on this site though.
And probably others.
No, the fans, who Kirk professes to love (unless a discouraging word is heard), aren't apathetic. They're ready for a modern program with a complimentary passing attack instead of the same drivel we see every week. You act like watching three and outs should be the hallmark of Iowa Football and should excite the fans.

After a quarter of a century and earning around $150 Million dollars, I am trying to think of an identity that Ferentz has brought. Fry brought the Tigerhawk, uniforms, swarm, pink locker room, and Haydenisms. The only think Ferentz brought is "that's football". Five years after Ferentz is gone, he will be forgotten like Bob Commings. Fry's legacy will live on.

Dude, that one was posted in the name of humor.
As was mine.

You are the one who said: “I'm not pasting someone else's post when I post the team's record.” which you quite obviously did. The fact you later said it was a joke is irrelevant. It’s ok to admit you misspoke.

Take your own advice. Being a troll and pissing off everyone around you doesn't exactly scream, "I have a healthy lifestyle and am authentically super happy".

You're on these boards daily to attack other Iowa fans each post. It sounds kind of like you hate being here. Do you even realize how hypocritical you are with asinine statements like this?

And the stuff you guys post doesn't piss people off?

Is there a reason you guys post it?

The stuff you guys say isn't an attack on the team and its members? I don't come on here and attack people. I come on here and get offended by ridiculous posts, and have trouble not responding to them and defending the team members.

I get upset and if it seems like I'm attacking sometimes, I guess I can see that. But I know why I defend the team. I'm still trying to figure out why you guys slander the team. IS THERE A REASON?

You guys have a problem with the team and it's members. I have a problem with disrespectful and destructive fans that spread negativity amongst Hawkeye nation

Your opinion isn't just. Stop trying to be a supposed white knight. Whether you like it or not, people have valid reason for being upset.

Again, for the umpteenth time, nobody is attacking the team. KF is the person who draws our ire. He makes fantastic money to hear our grumblings. He doesn't need an irrelevant person like you to defend him.

It doesn't "seem" like you're attacking. You are, all the time. You're not Thoreau. This isn't civil disobedience. Nobody is being murdered on the streets where a stand needs to be made justly. It's football. People aren't evil for challenging a coach. Stop countering the majority here because the majority are correct in this regard. You don't matter. It's not your job to defend KF from all of us.

Also, it's a free board. Maybe you'd be better served paying for the premium board. Someone as knowledgeable as you come off surely doesn't want to be considered one of the proletariat or common fans, as we all apparently are.

Stop trying to convince us. If it seems like everyone has a disdain for you, it's because it's true and they do. The only person who doesn't get it is you and one or two others. Just stop.
