TN now introducing a bill to stop teaching Muslim Doctrine in Schools.

This is a joke, right? Ignoring your entirely ignorant world history comments, the bolded is a joke, right?

You live in a made up, delusional world if you think that "merry christmas" is somehow treated with disdain. 70% of the US identifies as Christian, 70 f****** percent. You keep on pretending you are persecuted.

Look, you can grandstand all you want. In my lifetime, what used to be a joyous season has turned into a political correct, mundane "Happy Holidays, I hope I didn't offend you". I'm not alone in feeling this way.

70% or 100% Christian or whatever is fine. Jews don't try to take over and make people follow their religious beliefs. In fact, most other religions have learned to live near each other in peace. Christians with an open mind toward Muslims that in turn will turn around and expect (If they had enough clout) all others to be indoctrinated seems backwards to me. I know they aren't a majority, but don't be fooled with what happens if/when that happens.

This is such horrendously ignorant horseshit.

What has turned in to an "unjoyous, mundane" season? Governmental buildings? Your private place of employment? Public schools?

Shit, Christmas stuff is absolutely everywhere. The fact that you need MORE of it to validate yourself is pathetic.

"Jews don't try to take over." You know what, you got something right, they don't. They've seen it time and time again from their Christian neighbors who believe it is their prerogative to take everything over.

Speaking of grandstanding...

Are you an atheist? If not, what religion are you?

Remember, Tennessee gave the USA the "Scopes Monkey Trial". Tennesseeans may be nice people....but they aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer..and they seem to take a lot of pride in that fact, too.
This latest attempt to legislate education and tolerance is another in a long, well established line of parochialism.

From that little bit of info, my biggest concern is that Islam isn't taught alongside Christianity and Judaism as just another variation of the same Abrahamic faith tradition. I'd vote to see that change made.

My guess is in middle school they break history into eras, and that is why christianity/judaism are separate. They probably draw the line at the middle ages and don't hit islam until ottoman empire/mughals etc.

I teach Christianity/Islam/Judaism as a unit in my Geography class, and Hinduism/Buddhism as a separate unit.

In your curriculum do you teach that Christianity/Islam/Judaism all pray to the same god? How does that go over? Do you think Buddhism is a real religion. I often hear arguments that it isn't, but to me all the cosmology stuff qualifies as supernatural beliefs.

We teach the three as a group (abrahamic religions) so yes. I teach buddhism as a non-theistic religion that was a reaction to hinduism. Generally students are most familiar with christianity (obviously) so it probably gets short shrift time wise compared to the others. I suppose someone down the line will have a problem with it, but I haven't seen it yet.

So the cosmology in Buddhism is left aside? In discussions I've had with buddhists some might think that was justifiable. Some seem almost embarrassed by it. But when you run out and start researching the faith, it seems to be a significant part. Do you have an opinion?

Catholic. I have never even seen "persecution" that you claim is so rampant.

Have I seen people ask for Christian holidays to be shared by all? Sure, didn't realize that was tantamount to jihad on you.

It's a human geography class for freshmen with learning disabilities. I'm pretty happy if they can understand the very basics (samsara, karma, middle way, 4 noble truths and eightfold path, nirvana etc.), compare and contrast it with hinduism, and use it as an example of cultural diffusion to be honest.
